Thompson Dwelling 720, Family 601, Line 17 J Williams 52 or 59? Farmer SC (John Jr.) Margaret 58 GA Margaret 28 GA Clara 22 GA Eliza 18. GA J E. 14 M GA H. Pearse 10 GA (Henry H. Pierce) * John Williams Jr's Daughter, Catherine and her daughters, Margaret and Nancy Pierce are 2 households away: Dwelling 723, Family 604, Line 34 C. Pearse 31 F Farmer Pers. Estate Val. $90 GA Margaret 7 F GA Nancy 1 F GA This census is miss-read/indexed. Henry is indexed as H. Pearse, but Catherine and the girls whose name is written identically are indexed as Ream. The census taker alternately used both "do" (ditto) and ditto marks on the birth places. Catherines b place says GA . Catherines daughter Margarets b place has "do" (ditto) and Nancys has ditto marks. The indexer also miss-read this and listed the girls birth places as District of Columbia. (there are other persons whose b places are miss-indexed as District of Columbia in this census, including John Williams Jr who was born in SC.) Catherines daughter Margaret is also in John Pierce's household in 1870 as is her son, Henry H Pierce. Bartow is absent in this 1860 census. His age varies quite a bit in later censuses. In the 1900 census, he lists his b year as 1860. It is my guess that Catherine was expecting and Bartow was born shortly after this 1860 census was taken
