    3. Has anyone used the 1930 census that can tell me how to do the look up? I went to the library and tried, but they told me the soundex is different for this census and no one there knew how to look for the records. Thanks. _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

    3. Debra - The 1930 Census isn't soundexed. Where do you live? Because if you're in GA, have you been to the Nat'l Archives in East Point? They have microfilm rolls which convert the 1920 ED# to the 1930 ED# (if you have the 1920 for your folks). I'll be down there next week. Let me know if I can help you. 3. Sorry - I mis-spoke. The 1930 Census *is* soundexed for a few States. Am afraid I was going on my experience to this point & I've not been fortunate enough to be researching a State that had a 1930 Soundex. Anyway the following URL may be of assistance: http://1930census.archives.gov/beginSearch.asp Sorry for the mis-information in my last email. 3. Debra, I have looked up several of my families in the 1930 Oklahoma and Alabama census. There is no soundex, no index for these states. You have to figure out where they might have been during that time frame and just scroll through the census line by line. I was able to find quite a few families in Oklahoma because they all had stayed in one place for years. I haven't been able to look at the Georgia census as the library I go to here in Houston, TX does not have that state yet. Good luck!
