Nancy, Where is this place? I live in TN and I am trying to find my grandparents in 1920 to prove marriage for DAR and UDC. I have had no luck so far. I think they met in Hamilton Co. TN but I have checked with the TN archives and they have no marriage for them. I have also checked several other counties in TN to no avail. My mother was born in 1916 in Hamilton Co. so I think they were married around that time, but her sister was born in Feb. of 1921 in Tift Co. GA my grandfather was from Jackson County, GA (I think) I don't think pregnant women moved around much back then so I feel like they were in GA for the 1920 census. Contrary to what I have been able to find they had to be somewhere. My grandfather died in 1926 in TN so the 1920 is the only census they would have been in together. I know where Atlanta is if you can tell me about how far this place is from there I can come down and look them up. Oh, Yes does it have census for the entire state of GA? Thanks for any information you or anyone else can share with me. Fran Murphy
Fran - This is the Southeastern Branch of the Nat'l Archives, so they have the Federal Census on microfilm for all States. It's located in East Point, GA which is in Fulton County & just south of the City of Atlanta. You can call for specific directions (404-763-7477) & if they've not changed their email address, it is [email protected], or if you want me to check the 1920 Census for you when I'm there next week, I'll be happy to do that. Well - I just went to the NARA site & found the page for the Southeastern Br. The URL is http://www.archives.gov/facilities/ga/atlanta/public_services.html#genealogy Let me know if this is helpful or not.
