I am looking up William Christopher Hyde. He was born, I was told in Hall County Ga in 1828. I need to know who his father and mother were. I was told that Austin Hyde was his name and that he was born around 1805 or early 1800's or late 1700's. I was also told that he married a Mary Gross. But I haven't been able to find this family anywhere. There are Hyde's listed in Hall County Ga. Like Micajah Hyde and another William Hyde but they are not my line as far as I know because the dates don't match. If anyone out there knows about this family or can direct me to where to look I would really appreciate it. I am at a brick wall!! William Christopher Hyde was my ggrandfather. This family later moved to Alabama. Please Help!!

It doesn't state WHEN he died, but I assume it was in the late 1950's. Here's what it says (verbatim including spelling errors): I assume this was printed in the Gainesville Times. Heading: Area Obituaries Thomas Jefferson Land Thomas Jefferson (Jeff) Land, 76, Gainesville route 9, died Tuesday night at his residence after an extended illness. Mr. Land was born in Union County, but lived most of his life in Hall County. He was a member of the Antioch Methodist Church for 50 years. He was a retired miner and farmer. Mr. Land was an Odd Fellow and a member of the Redmen. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. from the Antioch Methodist Church with the Rev. J.D. Booth, Rev. Roger Tankersley, and Rev. Dorsey Freeland officiating. Interment will be at the church cemetery. Surviving are his wife: Mrs. Myrtie Land, Gainesville route 9; two sons: George and Claude Land, both of Gainesville; two daughters: Mrs. Leila Tankersley and Mrs. Kate Tankersley, both of Gainesville; one brother: Lee Land, Buford; four sisters: Mrs. Hattie Smith, Gainesville; Mrs. Georgia Black, Dalton; Mrs. Winnie Brackett, Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. Pearlie Chitwood, Lula; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Little and Davenport Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. If anyone connects with this Land family, please let me know! -Dana

She married William Martin Helton, III (was called Junior) also from Gainesville. Daddy's parents ran the Helton Boarding House on College Street. He had brothers Millard Helton and Otis Helton. Millard ran a TV store on College Street with a Mr. Langford. My mother passed away in 1999 and in 2005 my father married Mr. Langford's daughter, Rita Langford. They currently live a few miles outside of Gainesville. Mama's parents were Charles Thomas "Charlie" or "C.T." Tankersley and Nellie Kate "Kate" Land. My grandfather ran a grocery store (C.T. Tankersley Grocery) and owned a few houses on Clarks Bridge Road. The store and houses have long since been torn down. My mother had a brother named Andrew J. "Andy" Tankersley. He died in the 1960's from kidney disease. My grandfather's parents were Andrew H. Tankersley and Ola Bell. His grandparents were Napoleon Charles Tankersley and Eliza Lowe. My grandmother's parents were Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Land and Sallie Lathem. His second wife was Myrtie ? according to his obituary (which I have a copy and am willing to share). I had no idea he remarried. Does anyone know her maiden name? My grandmother had a brother named Claude Land. He married a woman named Jeri. Even though I remember her well, I never knew her maiden name. Again - if anyone knows, please let me know. He married a second time, but for the life of me I can't remember her name. I think it's Edie. He had no children. I THINK I have a picture of him when he was young, but there's nobody left alive in my family that could tell me if it's him. So, if anyone out there knows this family and would be able to identify him, please let me know. My grandmother also had a sister named Leila who married George Tankersley, brother of my grandfather (sisters married brothers). I have a picture of George and Leila and their children, Evelyn and Ford if an! yone is interested. My grandfather Tankersley had 13 brothers and sisters!!! So, I know there's some cousins out there somewhere!! :o) My father's parents were William Martin "Will" Helton, Jr. and Harriet Maynelle "Nellie" Burnett. They were originally from Suches, GA, but had lived in Gainesville for many, many years. I'd love to correspond with anyone who knows anything about the above Land, Tankersley and Helton families! THANKS! -Dana

If Rebecca died in 1896, this may mean that the Jasper N. Carter living in Dawson County is actually the same one. Do you know the name of his children? If so, I can check and see what I can find on him there. This Jasper Newton Carter died in Dawson County 2/10/1930. Hope this information helps. If you have his children, I'll look further. Sandra

Annette, I use GenoPro software (http://www.genopro.com/) which allows you to create complex genograms if you have the patience. Simple genograms are easy to create in the program. GenoPro has many features, and can really act as a genealogy program if you don't have a huge number of people in a database. I have found that being able to graph non-linear relationships and non-familial relationships within the context of a family tree is very helpful. I belive they have a trial version that you can try out. Paul K.
