They had a son named William Hadaway, b. 09 Nov 1812 in GA, d. 11 Jan 1899 in Cobb Co., GA. I believe I got this information from GedCom 2115534 Martha Burns. This site is by Betty L. Cash (cashbetty@hotmail.com), Martha Burns, 11-06-2004. In her notes for Ailey, she wrote: ***** Note 1. Found on 1820 census for Georgia, Wilkes County, unknown townships, image 2, name spelled Aley. She had one child, a son under age 10, and she was between 16 and 26 years. Listed immediately after her was another Hadaway family, first name of head of house not clear but looks like Amos. Head of house age bracket 16-26, son under 10, wife 16-26. Ailey married James Huckaby after 1820 census. The last census where she is found was 1860, Georgia, Hall County, image 209 where her name was spelled 'Ala.' She had a daughter Aly Ann Huckaby so correct spelling will probably never be established. Note 2. Huckaby family bible now (Oct 2003) in Oklahoma, lists her birth date which matches her age on the 1820 census. Note 3. Other researchers believe she was a sister of Rodicie King Hadaway, wife of Amos Hadaway. (From 2115534 Burns Gedcom) **** According to this, then Ailey's parents would have been Richard King, b. 1757 in Wake, NC and Rachel Dearman\Dearmon, b. 1777 in GA. I have no proofs of this and hope others may confirm or de-confirm this. Richard and Rachel have many GEDCOMS re them, but I did not see an Ailey listed among their children, so ??? I am descended from Nicie Elizabeth Jones. I am currently exploring the possibility that S.G. Jones may have been Starling G. Jones, b, either 1834 (1860 Hall Co. census lists him as SG Jones) or b. 1844. There is conflicting evidence, so cannot be sure if he is indeed Starling Jones. The James "Jim" Simmons, son of Benjamin H. Simmons and Nancy Minerva is of the Oklahoma Simmons. Jim died in 1946 in Marlow, Stephens Co., OK. Nancy Minerva's daughter Nicie married Benjamin Harrison Simmons' younger brother Jamed Madison Simmons. After the Civil War, James Madison Simmons, his brother Benjamin Harrison Simmons, and their father James "Jim" E. Simmons migrated from Forks of Pigeon, Haywood Co., NC (where "Cold Mountain" took place and where I also found Inman in the same census as the Simmons family). I have no idea if Jim E. Simmons wife Mary A. "Loisa"\Louisa ____ was with them or had died by then. They went to Hall Co. 1st, then on to Tuscaloosa, AL, Hog Mountain, Hall Co., GA, Atlanta, GA where James Madison Simmons and Nicie Elizabeth Jones were married, then on to Clarendon, Monroe Co., AR (Jim E., James Madison, Nicie Eliz. & their family), while Benjamin is alleged to have gone on to OK... Mary Louise Simmons, daughter of James Madison Simmons & Nicie Elizabeth Jones married George Willis Bradshaw and they pushed on to Oregon. It is a family legend that Benjamin was hanged in TX as a! horse thief some time later. No corroboration of that, though! Sharon

In the 1860 census Buford and his family are in Manchester, Dallas Co., AR His brothers Jesse and Adonijah (Doney) are also listed in the 1850 Franklin Co., AL census

I have Ailey's surname as Hadaway, but no documentation for that. Husband James Huckaby was the son of Phillip and Rebecca Huckaby of Wilkes Co., GA. Phillip was the son of James Huckaby and Celia Williams , he born in NC, she from Greene Co., GA. I have Nancy Minerva's first husband as L. G. Jones; could be S. G., of course. I show 4 children for them: Jane, Nicie Elizabeth, Perry Taylor and Caroline. Nancy's 2nd husband is Benjamin H. Simmons (married Feb 1866 in Hall Co GA), son James Simmons born Nov 8, 1867

Their names were Gordan and Mae Lingefelt Coggins. They came there from Dawson County to work in the Chestatee Mill. My great grandmother lived with them and she died while they lived there. Her name was Nancy Coggins. I am trying to find her burial place and anything about the time they were there. I think my aunt was born while they lived there. Her name was Lemma Coggins It would have been in the early 1920s. I have heard my gm say she saw the awful Gainesville Tornado. They might have lived in Hall county at that time. Maybe someone knows how I might find some information. Thank you for any help you can give.

List, Two family cemeteries, that of Rev. Humphrey Grant with his children Hannah and John, and the graves of the James Anderson "Big An" Grant and Josiah Prater (Assassinated)are on the old Grant homeplace at 6033 Grant Ford Rd., Gainesville, which has been purchased and will be developed very soon as a "gated" subdivision. Though there were stipulations included in the zoning approval by the Hall County Commmissioners for fencing for the Grant-Prater cemetery and access for the family to both cemeteries I cannot find any reference to the developer following Georgia State law in making notice to the descendants of the zoning of the property. If not for the diligence of an advocate of the family cemeteries under attack in Hall County by developers and her friendship with an friend of mine who knew my husband was a Grant relative all of this would have slipped past our noses. My husband notified the Commissioners of the 2 cemeteries and the Commissioners ordered the stipulations for access and fencing. Is anyone related to these two families, Prater and Grant, aware of any notice to the families regarding the cemeteries from the developer? Has anyone been contacted by a genealogist or the developer and given notice of the proposed (now a fact) development of the property upon which these ancestors rest? Once the development is gated I have no idea how the families now and in the future will be able to access the cemeteries. Photos of the two cemeteries are online at www.rootsweb.com/~gahall2/ Please email me off list if you have any knowledge of proper notice being given to the descendants. Thanks, Jackie King __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
