    3. Go to the Hall County Library site: www.hallcountylibrary.org. On the front page of the site there is a link to the Sitting Up with the Dead site. You will find an application there. Reservations are $10 and must be received by Friday, OCT 6. The library address is 127 Main Street, NW, Gainesville, GA 30501. MAPQUEST can give you distance, directions, and indicate hotels in the area. I'm related to most of Hall County, so I can sleep most anywhere. Ha. >>> skbest56@earthlink.net 8/31/2006 4:00:26 PM >>> Hi, I live in Ohio but will be the South on that date. I have been researching g this count for a couple of years now. I have only been able to connect with one person. Do you need reservations? Does anyone have the physical address for the library, for MapQuest. Is there a reasonably priced hotel or motel close to there? To me this sounds like a fun time. I understand the courthouse was hit bad --- some records were recovered miles away. My mother was in a building that was hit. She was okay but over a hundred people were killed! 3. Hello, I'd like to get in contact with anyone researching the following names. BOOTH 31 and 344 James J. BOOTH(e), husband of Cora Allie. Civil War widow's pension record index states the application was made from Georgia ca 1906. No further informaiton available on this James J. until I can confirm identity of Cora Allie (was she Cora A. nee Moore?). I've ordered the pension record. MORGAN 454 Cora A. Moore Byrd/Bird Booth(e) was married last to Arthur Madsion MORGAN ca Sept 1908. They were married in Athens, Clarke Co., GA per their divorce paper. Arthur taught at Athens Business College before their 1910 move to Camden County, GA. Arthur was born April 25, 1885. He was the son of James M. Morgan, Jr. and Sallie W. MORGAN. Siblings were Bertha, Robert Samuel, Maud, and Chesleigh. Cora was in Hall Co. in 1900. Cora and husband Arthur were in Clarke Co. during 1910 census. Cora and first "husband" Clement/Clemons C. Byrd (July 22, 1843-October 08, 1921) had one child: Mamie/Mary Lee Byrd/Booth born September 24, 1893. Mamie may have been born in Madison, Hall, or Clarke Co., GA. 3. Tara It has been my experience that provided you have the correct information when ordering Union pension records you will receive them in a reasonable amount of time. Since Cora Allie is listed as Widow of James J. Booth she would have had to provide proof of marriage, death date of soldier husband etc. similar to the requirements of Confederate widows who applied. There were indeed Georgia men recruited in Georgia for the Union Army, from the northern counties. You can find a list on the Georgia GenWeb Archives under Rosters-1st Battalion, Georgia Infantry USA. You can also GOOGLE for "Union Troops from Georgia" and learn more on the subject including more names, information etc. with sources, as well as information of the men who were former Confederates who joined the Union outfit and were hanged in Gainesville, Ga.
