Neda, I read those guidelines too. To be on the safe side, I would interpret them as meaning that if the copyright is over 75 years old, you may transcribe the information. Although marriage records are public information, the compilation of those records into a book is not. The same goes for cemetery information or any other public record. If you walk the cemetery yourself and record the information, it is your work. If you copy it and post it from a published book, it is not. The only way I would post those records is if I went to the courthouse and copied them from the original marriage books. I would not post information from a published book unless the copyright was over 75 years old or I had the author's permission. You didn't mention the copyright date on the book you have. Those guidelines are rather confusing, aren't they? Judy

I have been searching for an Alford/Alfred Lewis that supposedly is buried in Gillsville, Hall County. I can find no trace of him, his father is supposedly a Jacob Lewis out of Pickens Co, SC. Family info I have is that Alford's second wife was Clarece Brewer, I can find no info on her either. Alford died in 1897, his children are as follows: children of 1st marriage: Joseph, John; children of 2nd marriage: Steve, Lula, William, Daniel Wallace, Truston, Thomas, and Henry. Daniel Wallace is my ggrandfather, he died in 1923 and is buried at New Bethany Bapt. Church in Buford, his wife, Mary Annie Isabell Hudgins died in 1940 and is buried at Hopewell Bapt. Church in Candler, along with many of her children, there is some discussion as to whether they were divorced or not. Would you/could you please, check your notes to see if you can find ANY of these names. Many thanks in advance. Terri
Will you please look up a tombstone inscription for the Thomas family. Joseph and his wife Luaretia and Elizabeth Rawlings. Thanks,

Greetings to All: I am seeking others who are researching the following families in Hall Co.: 1880 Gainsville, Hall Co., GA DUNCAN, Lumpkin J. 49/GA Susana, wife, 52/SC John F., son, 20/GA Nancy F., dau, 20/GA Dennis J., son, 15/GA Melissa R., dau, 8/GA Susannah and Lumpkin also had other children: Martha A. born 1852/GA, Sina C. (b 1855/GA, married James PATTERSON), Wiley L. (born 1856/GA, married Hester BRYANT). Susannah WILSON was the daughter of Joshua WILSON and Belle HUNTER, and sister to my ancestor, William WILSON (married Sina GALLOWAY). Does anyone know these WILSONS or DUNCANS or what happened to Susannah and Lumpkin; did they live out their lives in Hall Co. or move on elsewhere? Thanks for any help! April [email protected]

But re your comment that the older Francis Bell buried with family at Liberty and younger generation at Mt Carme...... That appears to be true...but it does not actually list a headstone for Francis Bell, just a notation at beginning of survey that says "This is the cemetery in which Francis Bell is said to be buried. It is logical since he once owned the land." It also says "Everyone with a grave with a marker is a descendant of Francis Bell." The surnames listed are Boggs; Hudgins; Porter; Brown; and Veal. The Francis C. Bell buried in Mt. Carmel says August 9, 1825 - March 18, 1893. I
If you think that you may have traced a relative to Georgia and do not know where to start looking, try the publications "Pioneers of Georgia" by Joyce D. Payne (1992). It is at least four volumes and all entries are in alpha order. I recently came across this work while researching in the Southern Heritage Library. I found a number of leads even though I knew my roots go deep into Georgia. Bill Stephenson
Could you please tell me if there is any mention of Francis Bell Sr's wife, Esther Montgomery Bell in your Hall Co. tombstone source? Thank You, Dr. Justine Bradford
