    2. Donna, I really like the idea of contributing at least the family group sheets that I have created. Where would you post them, on the Hall Co. page or elsewhere? I don't know what the requirements are; they are in MS word, can you use them in this format? Do you have parameters, I have Braseltons going back to MD and Hortons from SC. Do you want on those that settled in GA or do you want it all? Nedra

He moves to GA in the early 1810s (possibly Hall or Jackson counties). The name also shows in a Gwinett county record, but I'm not sure if that's the same guy. Has ten children by his first wife (name unknown)--Eliza, Susan, Thomas, Mary, Robert, John Jr, Andrew Jackson, Melissa, Francis (Frank), and Jasper. Moves to Cobb county in 1837, marries an Emily Eubanks, and then has 7 kids by her--Malinda, Lucinda, Julia Ann, James, Martha, Samantha Emily, and Laura Elizabeth (there must not have been much to do after dark back then!). John and Emily both die in late 1864, soon after Sherman moves through Cobb county (would love to know more about this episode also). Any help would be appreciated. Many authors insert material in their pages that are not really available by looking at the public record to be able to prove that the material has been stolen. I have some in each of my books. We already have some early marriages online that were abstracted by an individual. They are linked from the webpage. I will not knowingly post copyrighted material to the Hall County webpage. Apparently no one uses the webpage and I have wasted a lot of effort. There have been less than a dozen actual contributors see above When I printed my first book, I needed to sell them to pay the printing cost which had been borrowed. One woman called and said her pages were smudged and could she get a clean copy. At that time, I had sold about 5 books and not to her. I asked her where she got the book and she said "Out of the garbage dumpster at the printers." I suggested she apply to the dumpster for replacement. There were 250 copies printed for me at a price. 41 went out by dumpster. I challenge all of you to do one thing if you really want a good website. Send 10 lines out of your own research to be put online on the Hall page. If you haven't looked up any original records I bet you have interviewed a relative. I intend to now go to the Hall County page and take out my contribution and see if you miss it. Donna

    3. There can be no copyright on public records. Only the format used is copyrighted. No problem looking up marriages, deeds, etc. Anything that is in the public domain has no copyright. Also, the only time you infringe on copyrighted text is when it is copied entirely. Excerpts are acceptable, however a source should be given for the records of those you looked it up for. It is my personal opinion anything looked up should be shared with the list. Otherwise, how would we know if we could use the information too. It would prevent the need to look it up again for someone coming into this discussion late too. Winnette --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 3. I have a mystery with my KIRK family also. I wonder if there is any connection? I have a William G. Kirk b. 12 Jan. 1817 in TN married Rhody Catherine Holtzclaw 4 Dec. 1844 in Tallapoosa Co. AL The only child I have for this couple is my great grandfather, Joseph Green Kirk b. 19 Dec. 1848 in AL. Tallapoosa Co. AL is one county west of the Georgia border and in the middle of the county. It is not to far from Hall & Forsyth Counties GA. Do you think there may be a connection? sheryl -----Original Message----- This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. 3. Any idea where I might find these books. I have been searching the web and can find nothing where where they may be purchased. Thanks for any help.
