The North Georgia Journal I'm speaking of is a magazine - not a newspaper and is published quarterly by Olin Jackson. It is now published as Georgia Roads. Martha

(Obit states "Newtown, GA") He migrated to the NE AL area in about 1901. The only "clue" I have to his parents is the fact that in the same cemetary plot he's buried in, there's an "I. Smith b.6 Apr 1859, d. 28 Feb 1917" I am guessing that this person is one of his parents because the age tends to indicate it. Otherwise, he had a brother named Homer (b. 1897 d. 1945), a brother named Harvey (I was told that he married "Bertie Mae", was a preacher, and lived in Chicopee or Bremen, GA), a sister named Annie Mae, who married Bob Hughes (I found an undated news article that indicated that Bob & Annie Mae lived on J Ave in Chicopee), and also a sister named Eva, who married a Parker and lived in Etowah Co, AL. The only other fragmented information I have is that "Hamp's dad lived with the Indians" at one time and he was described as a "frail, long gray bearded guy." Any leads to this family would be greatly appreciated!

Does anyone have a map of what Hall County GA looked like in 1820? I am trying to determine where Capt Buffington's Militia District was in the 1820 Hall County Census.

Here is what I found for your LONGSTREET: John G. "Arch T & Eng R" b: 1849 d: 1918 "HOMO PLURIS INGENUI UT PRUDENTIAE" In Alta Vista - Block Three I think this is Latin for something to do with Engineers, I do know the INGENUI is about Engineers. There are five other LONGSTREET's buried there. If you would like that info please email me directly at [email protected] as my computer is still acting strange and I am on my husbands right now.
I believe it was this issue, the article on Belton, GA. Summer 1993 - Our Price: $7.50 * Early No. Georgia Baseball Stars * Lumpkin Co. Landmark: The Old London Home * Ben T. I don't know if this will help, BUT here is a link http://www.gainesvilletimes.com/index.html to the local newspaper there in Gainesville, Georgia. It is the only one and use to be The North Georgia Journal, then it was The Daily Times and now is the Gainesville Times. I read it everyday since this is my home town. I am pretty sure someone there can help. Have you checked the North Georgia Journal (now published under another name). I just went through my old copies and didn't find it - but I only went by the outside cover topics. Seems like I've seen it in one of their issues. Martha
