Whitehall Baptist Church is on Whitehall Road in Lula if you ever want to go and look. I remembered that you were looking for William Martin Free when I saw that head stone...that is why I added my find to your message listing. This grave was one of three. I believe this William Martin Free is the father of Lou Free-Harris, my great grandmother, and married to Aaron Clayton Harris, because Wm Martin is buried with those two.

Could you read any more of the inscription? I am a Free who has been searching for information on William Martin Free and kinda believe that his faather was Bethuel Free who had a son born in Hall County who was four years old when the 1840 Hall Co. Census was taken and I can not find him since!!! If by chance I do find out that Bethuel was William Martin Free's father, then I would, in deed, be related; otherwise, I don/t believe I am as it is quite possible that William Martin Free's father may have been the Martin Free of S.C. who was born in 1787 and lived in Habersham, ghen Hall, then Fannin and finally in or near Dahlonega Ga where he died. Kathy Sexton is, I believe , the granddaughter of William Martin Free or in some way related to him. Liz

I still do not know if there is a connection of your aunt and my Powells, but later, around 1845 to 1850 the family moved to Dade/Walker Co. Ga.. We do not know who the parents of my Lewis R. and Pressly Powell are yet either. So do not be in a hurry to get info, after all I have been in this Genealogy thing for only 5 years, and it has taken this long to just find people that might be related to Lewis R. Powell. Lewis and Pressley are in the book Families of Co. Ga. 182-1840. The Book is mostly lists from stores and land deals, I think. Just take your time, and also if you want to send me info, you can use my email address: springerpc@msn.com It might be easier for you to submit things to me, by scanning them, and sending them as a attachment. So far, I do not reconize any names, except the name Edward Powell. We have a George Edward Powell in our Powell line. Thanks Lyn for the info, and if you have any questions let me know. I have a web site address where you might be able to find the history and pictures of my Powell Line: http://www.rootsweb.com/~gahall/ Under Photo's Would also like some background family info on Margaret Powell, to see if she might be in this line of Powells. I am thanking you in advance for any info anyone might be able to give, and will share any info I have, will help any one.
