We're so lucky! Rose Birdwell and her friends managed to get over to the Slabtown Cemetery (that we have talked so much about) and did a survey. Take a look at it -- and I am now even more curious about this cemetery and how they all came to be buried there. Was this ever a church? or just a Community. (maybe under some other name). There just so many names here.....and many unidentified ones as well. The Edge-Harper hyphenated names are curious too! I did some research on the CSA names....and tried to locate some of the others on the Census that we have on-line. So please...take a look, and see if you can help figure any of this out! And pass it along to any other lists that might be helped. For much more information about this cemetery (and many others) FULL LISTING WITH PICTURES see: http://www.cemeterysurveysinc.com/ Scroll down to White County. Scroll down to Slabtown. You'll see the overview photos, so you get a feel for the entire cemetery. Click on Page 1 -- and you will see the actual listing of the tombstones they found there. I have a feeling that the CSA tombstones might have been placed there "after the fact" -- but Rose says they all look old. I do know that over the years UDC has worked to mark the men's graves. Also note there was a burial as recent as 2002. I wonder if anyone on this list could figure out what funeral home might have done this burial.
