Dist. on Governor's Creek branch of Great Rocky Creek, bd. by William Lesley, Jr., John Mauldin, George Tucker. (no oath) Wit: Harris Mauldin and Surry Davis. Recorded May 27, 1791. Book A Pend. Conveyances pages 273-275. Here is another - 17 May 1796 John Mauldin, blacksmith, and Sarah, his wife, spinster (huh?) to Andrew Middleton Norris for £60 stg. for 100 A on Governor's Creek, of the Great Rocky Creek. Signed: John Mauldin, Sarah X Mauldin. Wit: Wesley Mauldin, Keziah Mauldin, Thomas Milsap. Plat shows land bd. on N. by Jno. Mauldin, on E by Harris Mauldin, on S by Surkey (?) Davis, on W by Nathan Hall. Thomas Milsap made oath to E. Browne, J P, 13 Jun 1796. Recorded Book C-D page 217 20 Jun 1796 I am interested in Surry for a similiar story about marrying Mauldin sisters has been told about a Christopher Whitmire, which cannot be proven. Am wondering if a descendant of both Surry and Chris. was talking of their ancestor and the other person assumed the wrong one. I would be interested in your documentation regarding marriage.
