Notes for JOSEPH "JOE" THEO BROCK: Anderson Independent Tuesday, February 24, 1959 Joe T. Brock Cornelia, GA -- Joe T. Brock, 86, of Alto, Rt. 2, died Monday morning in a local hospital following three months illness. Mr. Brock was born in Banks County, and had lived there all of his life. He was born a son of the late Joe and Adeline Firley Brock, was a member of the Leatherwood Baptist Church, and a farmer by occupation. Survivors include nine sons, Simon, Alvin, and Ezell Brock, all of Baldwin, Carvin, and Harvey Brock, of Wintersville, Weldon Brock, of Milledgeville, Skid and Jack Brock, of Alto, and Duckett Brock, of Baldwin; four daughters, Mrs. Miranda Humphries, of Atlanta, Mrs. Lorena Damron, of Colbert, GA., Miss Fannie Belle Brock, of Alto, Mrs. Bruce Brown, of Baldwin, Rt. 1; 52 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday from the Leatherwood Baptist Church. The Rev. James Byrd and the Rev. James Turner will conduct the rites. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The body is at the residence of his daughter, Mrs. Bruce Brown pending the services. McGahee Funeral Home is in charge. Born in Banks County, he was a U. S. Army World War II veteran and was a member of Leather wood Baptist Church. He was retired from Fieldale Inc. with 20 years of services. Surviving are widow, Ila Mae Stewart Brock of Baldwin; daughter, Glenda Waters of Cornelia; sons, Leaford Brock of Ranburne, Ala., Carter Brock of Baldwin, Buford Brock of Toccoa, Roy Brock of Alto and Phil Brock of Mount Airy; sisters, Fannie Bell Pitts and Pauline Brown, both of Mount Airy; brothers, Jack Brock of Mount Airy and Duckett Brock of Baldwin; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He was the son of the late Joe Theo and Minnie Broome Brock. He was preceded in death by a son, Ray M. Brock; a brother, Ezell Brock; a sister, Blanche Brock. Services are at 2 p.m. Friday from the Whitfield Funeral Home, South Chapel, Baldwin; burial will follow in the Leatherwood Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until service time on Friday. Flowers are optional.
