I wonder if anyone has information on some special draw that enticed people to move from Georgia to Arkansas between 1850 and 1860. Did authorities open up Indian to settlement in Arkansas at that time, what was the draw? My ggrandfather Doctor Jesse R (Richardson) Kelly was born 1833 Habersham County, GA; his father Hiram moved to Arkansas 1855 and Jesse followed in 1859. We know that Jesse graduated from the Atlanta Medical School in 1859, the reason for his delay in joining his father. They settled first around Hindsville, Arkansas.
