He was married to Magaret Coles and they were originally from Buncombe County NC. He died in Georgia and like you I am trying to find his gravesite. I am descended thru Frances (Fannie) McAfee who married Henry C. Adams. They had a daughter Martha Adams. She had several children (all born out of wedlock) One of these was my great grandfather Albert Adams who married Rebecca Strickland & so on. I am currently working on the McAfee Line and and would like to share what info I have if you are interested. I have my own website and would like to know if you would be interested in joining it to share. Thanks Trisha

My father (Joe) married my mother (Lela Mae Capehart of Indiana). I was born 4 Dec 1952. My mother had a daughter by another man. She is 7 1/2 yrs older than me. I am the only child of these two. I have a picture of a daughter born to him in his early years - my half sister. Her name is JoAnn or Joanna. Daddy became very sick when I was young and things got very ugly. He turned to alcohol and my parents went thru a bitter divorce. My mother never let me communicate with Daddy after he left. I don't know anything about the Pitman family except what I told you. I remember going with him to Pooler one summer when I was about 6 or 7 to visit Uncle Earlie. When my husband did a construction job in Savannah in the early 80's, I found where they are all buried and went to that cemetery. Daddy is buried next to Uncle Earlie. I live in Alabama and would be so very grateful to get ANY information you have. I am just proud to know WHO my family was and learn of those that are still here! I will be glad to pay for the mail of anything you have that will not go e-mail. Thank you so much for answering me!!! Tonja Pitman Nummy

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3c.2ADE/1458.2.1 Message Board Post: I think you have the right family: Monroe Mitchell Pit(t)man and Minerva Jane Rogers had the following children: Martha Indian, Frances Octavia, John Patterson, Newton Silvester "Sid", James Early, Thomas Oliver, Robert Lee "Rob". John Patterson Pitman and Lucy Redmon, the son of the above, had the following chilred: Jasper Early, Joel "Joe", Inez, Charlie Richard, and John Lewis. Jasper Early "Earlie" and his wife both died in Pooler as well as did "Joe". John Patterson's Bible shows Joe being born September 2, 1897 and died in Pooler September 8, 1970. Several of Uncle Earlie's children still live in and around Pooler. As for Uncle Joe, I remember very little about him after 1935 five. I know that he married when he was young and she died not too long after they were married. I also know that he married at least once after that to someone one named Dorothy Anderson and they had a daughter. Dorothy was the sister of Frances Pearl Anderson, who was married to John Lewis. I also heard that he married someone else after that and I think they had a daughter. I also know that for sometime during the later days of his life he raced greyhound dogs somewhere in Florida. I have a picture of him and he noted on the picture that it was his baby, but gave no name.. My father was Charlie Richard and my Mom's name was Nellie. For most of my life I lived in and around Atlanta. My name is Ruby Mae Pitman and I had a brother named Charles Edward "JIM" Pitman. My brother died of Cancer in 1990's. I live in Riverdale Park, Maryland. I have a lot on the Pitman family dating back to 1785. I will love to send all that I have to you, it this is the family you are looking for. Just let me know and I will try to send it to you piece meal via e-mail or in more detail by mail. Ruby Mae Pitman Joynes

    1. Ancestry World Tree is not Rootsweb World Connect
    2. Virginia Crilley
    3. CLARIFICATION - please help correct this misunderstanding if you saw this on other lists. The WorldConnect at RootsWeb, is NOT the same as the one at Ancestry.com (although it's basically the same idea)http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/ You may have seen this note earlier and it applies ONLY to Ancestry.com system. It is my understanding that this system was also in place when it first began, although I've not participated in it, so am not sure. ================================ If you submitted a family tree to Ancestry.com (or MyFamily.com) for free viewing by researchers, that's all about to change. Later this month Ancestry plans to begin charging researchers to view your trees. If you don't want that, you'll have to remove your tree. Go to: http://www.ancestry.com/search/rectype/trees/owt/ Click on "What's a Preview" Scroll down to #3: Have you already submitted a family tree? Click on "view our checklist" A few lines down you will see: "If for any reason you do not want your tree to be part of the new OneWorldTree service, you must delete it from the Ancestry World Tree database by tentatively May 21, 2004." There are instructions for removing your tree: http://ancestry.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/ancestry.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=1090

    1. Thomas Canup Sr. - born 1756 in North Carolina
    2. Dusty Jr
    3. Hi, Looking for the wife of Thomas Canup Sr. her name was Ester and she was last seen on the 1850 Census for Habersham County. According to Robert Canup of Salisbury she was 35 years younger than Thomas. Although many people put her birth around 1776. She was also probably a Cherokee woman as her grandkids were put into into an Indian Regiment in North Carolina called the Thomas Legions during the Civil War. The Grandkids names were Eppy Morris Canup and Francis M. Canup they were the son of Thomas Canup Jr. They were described as having a dark complexion, black hair and black eyes. Ester was born in North Carolina. Her and Thomas Sr. moved to Habersham County because Thomas Sr. fought in the Revolutionary War and was awarded 2 tracts of Cherokee Territory that is now Habersham County. Most of his children were born in Habersham County and some were born in Rowan County, North Carolina where they lived before coming to Georgia. Any help would be appreciated. Dusty Holman

    3. http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/habersham/bibles/sosebee.txt Ernest Sosebee and Carolyn Rasbury shared a Bible Record that they had on one line of the Sosebee family. This Bible record was confusing, and the handwriting difficult to read, so if anyone has corrections or "notes" which could be added, I'm sure that would help everyone. Maybe all of you Soseebee folks can connect and help one another out. Virginia
