Deer Court, GA was between Toccoa and the Tugaloo River, now in Stephens County formed in 1905. Prior to 1905 it was in Habersham County. The railroad between Atlanta, GA and Washington, DC runs through Toccoa, Stephens County, Georgia. Deer Court was once on the old tracks before the tracks were re-located about 1920. Deer Court had a railroad depot and the train stopped for passengers. I can remember the old depot building but it has been torn down sometime in the last thirty years. Oconee County, SC is just across the river from Stephens County, GA. We are in the extreme northeast corner of the state of Georgia. He was from Georgia-born in Miller County but was listed as Buddie Ranes w/family that I believe was his in the 1880 census of Baker County, Ga. His mother was Elizabeth Covington. Alice's mother was Emmalyne Elerbee and father was Samuel Simpson. Alice E. was born in the Shady Grove Community in Grandridge, Fl -Jackson County, Fl. She had 9 children: William Harvey Raines Baby Boy Raines or Buddie Annie Mae Raines Allie May Raines Elizabeth Jane Raines Demerius Emmalyne Raines Estelle Raines Robert Lee Raines Ruby Irene Raines 4 of these children were twins. From one source it is believed that Robert Boyd's Raines (Buddie) parent's lived in North Georgia and owned a home at one time. I believe that he is on the 1880 Baker Census w/his father J.V. Hello lists, I sending this to both lists since they connect to Priscilla Headen and Joseph Murdoch. I recently ran across a partial newspaper article from the Georgia Journal and Messenger (published perhaps in Macon?) dated 4 April 1820. It states that Joseph Murdoch and Priscilla Headen were charged with living in adultery. Hmm. Is there anyone on either of the lists who has access to the full article? I have not found a way to locate it yet and I would surely like to know a bit more about this. Thanks, Marsha joseph murdoch+ Priscilla Headen>Allen Murdock+ Elizabeth Freeman> Jeptha Freeman Headen Murdock+Nancy Hood>James Murdock+Martha Wallace>Oscar Murdock+Barbra Barker (NC, SC, GA, AR)
