I also had a HICKS in Habersham Co., GA. My ggg gm Arry HICKS married Edward HAYNES there in 1824. I have not been able to connect her to any HICKS families, though. Her name is unusual and is sometimes spelled Ora, Arrina or Arrah. Any possible connection to other HICKS in Habersham Co.? Thanks, Barbara Ray On Fri, 09 Jun 2000 01:16:19 -0500 "Michael A. We also have a responsibility to protect people's privacy. Recently, I discovered a man (whom I do not know) had somehow obtained some of the family data I had gathered and posted it on a Genforum site. This data included living people who he had listed as deceased. I e-mailed the man, asked him where he got my data, why he did not ask my permission to post it, and asked him to kindly remove it to protect people's privacy. He refused to do this and refused to divulge his source. I then e-mailed Genforum, but have never received a reply. I have also found some of my data on other websites, used without permission and including living people. I know many other people who have had the same experience. It's amazing to me how our information floats around. The internet has become a double edged sword. On the one hand, we have access to more and more valuable records and can make connections with far flung cousins. On the other side, some people do not understand other's right to privacy and the need to ask permission before using data. I am more and more cautious about giving information to anyone, which is sad, and I will not give any information past my great grandparents. Hazel Colburn

Hi, I have just joined the list, and would like to post my surnames. I am looking for information on Berry Cantrell, and Eliza Waters. They were married about 1849, and had 3 children. William, Harvey and Harriett. Berry supposedly died in Rock Island, Ill. in a POW camp. I would like to learn anything I can about this family and especially Eliza, her parents, siblings and if she remarried and had more children. Thanks to all for the help with this. I've never verified the 9 November 1851 Franklin County marriage--just took everyones' word. When I saw the reference to an 1860 marriage my imagination ran away, especially since there was another, older Enos Brock who disappeared before the 1850 census. Oh well, no reason to make this more difficult (fun) than it already is!?!? Allen
You're welcome, Allen. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Debbie Allen Brock wrote: > Thanks to all for the help with this. If someone has access to Habersham County marriages around 1860 I'd appreciate a favor. My great-granduncle Enos Brock supposedly married Mary Camp in Franklin Co. GA in 1851---this is found many places. Well... Today I found on the LDS site that someone says an Enos Brock married Mary Camp in 1860 in Habersham Co. also. Normally I might not take as much interest in this, but the date was given making it look semi-official! If anyone can validate or not the 1860 Habersham Co. marriage I'd be very grateful. Allen
