    3. Hi All! I have posted what marriage records I had available to me to date to my web page. It is also linked from the Habersham page. It is off of my genealogy page. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~ruthptb/Genealogy.html I have received some more marriage records from a cousin and another nice lady and will get them posted also. If any of you have some more marriages to add, let me know and I will post those also. They can be scanned copies, They can just be in e-mail. If you want to send me hard copies, this will be fine too. If you have any other ideas of how to send me any marriages you have, let me know and we can discuss it. Just e-mail me and I will send you my address. I would really like to have every Habersham Marriage transcribed eventually for this county! This way, we would all benefit. For some strange reason This might me our man if I can pin point the verification of who found him linked to Henrietta. Marc E. Shelton Continuing the search

    2. Buckmaster
    3. Is anyone available to do a lookup for me? I am seaarching for a marriage of an Elizabeth Ward to an Atkins. They had at least one daughter, Mary, who appears on 1880 census in the home of Robert C. Lambert and family. Elizabeth was from Athens, daughter of Dr. Malthus A. Ward, but may have lived in Habersham Co., for a while, according to an old article by Mrs. Pittard. Any help appreciated. Sara.

    3. On the 1880 census in the Mt. Airy district there is a Wm. D. Lambert--actually it has been transcribed as Fambert--Eliza (wife) and step-son Charlton Harkins. Isn't it the 1880 census that gives place of birth of the father? If so, could some one tell me where Wm. D. Lambert's father was born? Also, in the Clarkesville district, there is a Samuel R. Lambert and a Catherine Lambert, where were their father born? I have tried to read this on the census nearby, but it is so poor in quality I cannot decipher it. Any help appreciated. B. HANDLEY >736 WOLFFORK CHURCH RD >RABUN GAP, GA. 30568 W. B. I looked this file over and it is pretty good. It is a file generated from a family tree book that is in the Clarkesville, Habersham County, Georgia library by Wanda Gregory. Most all of the information is correct except for the information on Ira. It WAS thought that he married a woman named Mrs. Merritt, when it was actually his brother who married the Merritt. It further stated that Ira and wife moved to 'Galhart, Texas' which is incorrect. There is no such place in Texas and should have read, Dalhart, Texas. Dalhart is in the Panhandle of Texas as is Perryton. Ira married Nancy Malinda Nichols Ivester. They moved first to Oklahoma by 1900 then to Ochiltree, Ochiltree County, Texas which is now Perryton, Ochiltree County, Texas. Both Ira and Nancy Malinda are buried in the cemetery there at Perryton. The brother to Ira, William Bartow is also buried at Perryton also. I have his death certificate. If anyone wants any information on this family, I would be happy to share it. Ira was my step great great grandfather. He was much loved in our family. HOWEVER, this tree gives valuable information on the Nix family. Wanda Gregory did a good job researching the family. It shows the connections to the other families in Habersham County. Thank you W. B. for finding this overlooked tree on the FTM cds. 1. [PRINCE-L] Re: William D. Prince, 1850 Gilmer, Habersham, Murray Co.'s, GA
    2. Fellow Researchers: We've seen several messages this past week relating to William D. Prince of 1850 Gilmer Co., GA and 1860 Polk Co., TN. Lori Sotelo ([email protected]) was kind enough to share her discovery of another man named William D. Prince in 1850 Habersham Co., GA. Its intriguing that both men share the same name, including the same middle initial. The William D. Prince of Gilmer Co., GA was age 35 in 1850 while the William D. Prince of Habersham Co., GA was age 66 in 1850. One wonders if the older man is the father or uncle of the younger. Perhaps its just coincidental their names are the same. I would like to add the fact the older William D. Prince was listed TWICE in the 1850 census. On August 13, 1850 he was listed in Habersham Co., GA. A few months later, on November 8, 1850, he is listed in Murray Co., GA. The obvious conclusion is that he moved his family from Habersham County to Murray County in the fall of 1850. The most beneficial part of his being listed twice is the fact that Habersham County listed most of his family members by initials only, whereas the Murray County census shows their given names. The following is a copy of the "second" listing of William D. Prince: 1850 Murray Co., GA Page 253B 1465-1465 WILLIAM D. PRINCE 65 SC ARTY " 38 VA IRA " 17 VA**see notes 1 and 2 below NERI (male) " 15 KY JULINA " 13 VA GREEN " 8 KY WILLIAM " 7 KY JACKSON " 5 NC BRITTAIN " 3 NC As with many census records there are a few discrepancies between the 1850 Habersham and Murray County innumeration of the above William D. Prince family. Note 1: This IRA H. PRINCE appears to be the same that appears in the 1860 census of Jackson Co., AL and the 1870 census of Marion Co., TN. He is also likely the same one that served in Co. H, 37th Georgia Infantry (CSA) during the Civil War. Note 2: Its interesting to note that an older IRA H. PRINCE appears in an 1835 marriage record of Habersham Co., GA. This older IRA H. PRINCE appears in the 1840 census of Greene Co., AL. He next appears in the 1850 census of Tuscaloosa Co., AL. He then moves to Louisiana and appears in the 1860 census of Claiborne Parish. Perhaps this information will help those researching this particular Prince line. Regards, Ron Prince

I spoke with Mrs. Kimzey recently, and she said that Nancy (her daughter) had found one more case of the books that she is willing to sell. You can contact Nancy directly: Mrs. Edward Dempsey, 2 Tanglewood Drive, Athens, GA 30606 (706) 549-5238. The cost of the book is $35.00. I would expect these books to go quickly, once the word is out that these are the last ones. It is certainly a great resource for those reseraching Habersham County.
