They are all in Habersham, Ga. from 1850 census forward. I find Thomas on the 1840 census, Capt. Porter's district.Their ages are close. I find John and James on the list for persons married in Habersham, but not Andrew and Harriet. The surnames that are linked are Whisenant, Nix, Deal, Hames, and Ivester. I believe Nancy Miles whom married John Kinney is a sister. I have put all this on the query boards before. Ask me anything, if I can help I will. I have copied alot of census pages from Habersham.

Hi Lynne Thanks for the information on the Batesville Celebration Day. I had a wonderful time at the last one and hope to be there this year too. Thanks again Gay
Today I learned of the date for the Batesville Celebration. It's the third Saturday in October, the 20th. So mark your calendars. I'll give you more information as time goes on. Some of you who live several hours away may want to plan a day trip, and it is very worthwhile, especially if your ancestors were early settlers in the Batesville community. Hi Lynne I Hope all is well with you and everyone on this mailing list. Do you know if there will be a Historical Day Celebration in Batesville,Habersham co.Ga.this year and what date it will be? Thanks Gay Brooksher/Brookshire
For all those who have inquired on specific family histories is Mary's book, Hills of Habersham is really a historical book of the county. Although she did highlight a couple of the prominent residents of the county, there are no family histories, per se. Lynne in the beautiful northeast GA mountains

For a rental fee of $1.35 at your nearest Family History Center you can get the book on microfich. It takes about two to three weeks and the microfiche stays in the Family History Center indefinitely. In fact, you might want to check your nearest center and see if they already have it on file. I know mine does, and I live in Maryland. Lynn, thanks so muh for the update of the Clarkesville bookstore. I was the one who posted that old phone number. Afraid that my Habersham Phone book was from a few years back, but glad that it spurred us on to gain the newest information. I shall save that new phone number!!! Here is a suggestion. Several years ago I located a Volumn on the Gable Family, via some contacts on the net. I finally located a library in Mississippi that had the private manyscript on its shelves. It was done by Zelma Wells Price, just one of her many manuscripts. So I called this library, knowing well that a copy was not available. They actually were willing to zerox this large genealogy, with all of its notes and references for me. They did the entire manuscript and mailed out to me what I needed. It cost me at the time $70.00. but it has been worth every dollar spent. I soon found others in the Gable lines that also done the same. Perhaps a copy of the book you seek could be done in the same manner. someone who does own the book may be willing to copy it, or part of it for you. That way no one has to part company with their book! Just share it! Judy
For your information, The Book Cellar in Clarkesville, GA went out of business a couple of years ago. There is a new book store, The Book Worm, in Clarkesville (706-754-1838). The owner, Judy Bozeman, is searching for copies of Early Genealogical & Historical Records, Habersham County, GA. This morning I spoke with Mrs. Herbert Kimzey about the possibility of her daughter, Nancy Dempsey, reprinting the book for a third time. She said that Nancy does not have plans for a third printing. This was a self-published book. I am hopeful that the family will realize the demand for a third printing. At this point, I would think the only way to secure a copy of the book would be to find a used copy. But I haven't found anyone who is will to part with theirs. If I ever know of one available for sale, I'll certainly post it to the list. I was very lucky to know Herbert Kimzey when I was a child and teenager. Our parents would take turns chauffeuring us to Atlanta to the Orthodontist. Since I was the only one in the group that got car sick, I sat in the front seat with Mr. Kimzey. He had a great sense of humor. I really treasure those memories now. Lynne in the beautiful northeast GA mountains
