She married Ervin Stephens on 25 November 1847 in Habersham Co., GA. I've reason to believe she is the eldest daughter of John and Elizabeth Owens, found on the 1850 Habersham census. Ervin's father was Absolom Stephens, Sr. of Habersham/Banks Co. GA. If anyone is researching either of these families, I would like to share info with you.

    1. Herbert Kimzey Memories
    2. Sue Thompson
    3. Lynn: Your email brought back fond memories of Mr. Kimzey for me. In the mid 60s, my first full time job was as his receptionist/typist when he was Solicitor for Habersham County. His wife's family owned the bank next door and his wife worked at the bank. Mr. Kimzey was a generous, kind, thoughtful man who devoted his life to his family and the community. He was as honest as any man I've ever known. As Solicitor he was known as being fair and compassionate. I remember his genealogy work and how devoted he was to the research. I moved from the Habersham area to follow my ex-husband's Army career and lost touch with Mr. Kimzey and the status of his book. At the time, I was too young to understand the significance of the book but have often wished I had purchased a copy. Anyone researching the area or genealogy in Habersham County would find it of tremendous value. I have just returned from a visit to Habersham where I found a copy of Mary Church's book, Hills of Habersham. I've looked for this book for years, too. Mary Church is now deceased and her husband, Marlor, is in a nursing home. Anyone who is researching the Clarkesville area would also enjoy owning this book. Mine was purchased from a family member but I'm sure the book store in Clarkesville would know how to obtain a copy. I understand that it has to be purchased directly from the family. Thanks for the memories. Sue

    3. http://www.rootsweb.com/~galumpki/history/Auraria_byAB.htm "In 1832 a squatter named William Dean built a cabin on the ridge and soon a tavern was built by Nathaniel Nuckolls. The name of the place once known as “Deans” became “Nuckollsville.” The town had a rough and rowdy society and an unlawful community that included thieves, gamblers, and murders who were often drunk, malicious and looking for a fight. Today many of the local people refer to the town as Knucklesville" because of the many stories that have been handed down about how disputes were settled in the town." I am descended from Sarah Dean and Isaiah Standridge. I have reason to believe Sarah is a sister to James M. Dean and Wiley H. Dean of White Co., GA. I also believe these folks are children of William & Margaret Dean of Habersham Co., Ga. (Is Margaret of Habersham, the same as Elizabeth in White Co.?) William appears to be a Jr. Can anyone elaborate on the paragraph above found on the Lumpkin Co., GA page? Could this be William of Habersham Co. ? Thanks for any input. Terry Jackson
