Caswell CAMP was born in TX in 1852, soon after the family moved there from Gwinnett co, GA. His father died in Panola co, TX, in 1857. Caswell's mother took the children and went back to her family, . As an elderly man, Caswell told his children, "I am a member of the Choctaw tribe. I have people in Paducah (county, TX)". Caswell's death certificate gave his parents as Johnson CAMP and Emily T. LACY. I've found Johnson CAMP and his family, have both volumes of the CAMP/KEMP books by Mann. But Emily T. LACY (born about 1821 in TN and married in 1838 in Gwinnett co, GA) has disappeared. I believe she remarried, because son Caswell at age 15 left home and went back to TX with a sibling or two. He said his "father" mistreated him (his father had died in 1857, so surely it was a stepfather). I can't find them in the censuses; don't know which surname to search. If anybody knows of Emily T. LACY and her family, please let me know! Sandra Delashaw Warden, Tulsa, OK LKWarden1@prodigy.net
