My surname interests in Gwinnett Co., GA are Gilbert and Strickland. My great, great grandfather was William Gilbert, born around 1753/1758, possible in Virginia or NC. He married Tamar or Tamer Strickland, second oldest daughter of Jacob Strickland and Priscilla Taylor or Young Strickland. Any information I could gain on either William or Tamar would be very much appreciated. I believe William died around 1828 and that Tamar left Gwinnett Co. in 1830 and went to Cobb Co., GA, where one of their daughters lived. Tamar had one child still at home - my great grandfather, William Gilbert, Jr. (middle initial may have been an "H"). He was born in 1815. I also believe that Tamar died in about 1833 in Cobb Co., GA. I would love to know where William Gilbert, Sr. was buried in Gwinnett Co. He was a Revolutionary War soldier.
