    1. Re: [GAGWINNE-L] Will do Look-ups!
    2. Karen, Gwinnett Co. census are complete (except of course for 1890). The look-ups are from avaliable books on Gwinnett Co. census 1820 thru 1870. I believe the 1880 is being compiled hopefully for a book. Frustration is when you have an ancestor documented from age 16 (1837).....until the 1850 census (drops out of site)....shows back up right after...& stays in sight until death...but the one census needed to hopefully find this child in household (1850)...? Then in 1860 this child is working or visiting another family in the same town the day the census taker came & gets enumerated in this families household & this family has same last name (relationship unknown) as your family. Of course married by the 1870... Only clue is a family Bible with your ancestors name & death date written in it....but all you can really do is say this male is probably a son of?? This is my problem for one of my great-grandfather's brothers? I'm like you just letting frustration out! 3. Rachel: How the heck are you doing? I had kept this old message from you and realized my g.grandfather's brother, Andrew Jack BARNES was born in Gwinnett Co! He was born 1843, I think his military records said. We have tried a very long time to find William Henry BARNES and brother Jack's family. Have been in hopes they might have been on some census in Gwinnett or some record of Jack's birth, so we could find parents. No hurry...just if you get a chance, I would so appreciate it. If you are backlogged with requests, put mine on the bottom. smile Glad to wait my turn. The Cherokee National Holiday here in Tahlequah was unbelievably huge this year! They said there were 200,000 XTRA people in town for the weekend and about 30,000 at the holiday. Our town population including all of us that live out in the hills (as they say) is only 11,000. smile It was also 105 degrees...unbelievable (our normal temp for this time of year is 82 to 86!!). I figured that many people and all of us in Cherokee co. needing rain so badly, we would have gotten some from two pow wows, but alas, not yet. It will come. We give thanks. William F. Moon. Married Minerva Mason 1882. Mystery man. Supposedly died 1886 in a train wreck. This one doesn't even frustrate me anymore. I'm sort of resigned to the notion that he appeared only long enough to marry and sire two daughters, then POOF! He came in and went out on a magic carpet???? Seems like iut! You take care. 1. Re: [GAGWINNE-L] Will do Look-ups!
    2. Glenda, Sorry Eli Landers/Landress is not listed. The book Gwinnett County, Ga. "Inferior Court Minutes for Ordinary Purposes 1819-1861" has an interesting point in its introduction to ponder. This book (abstract) was compiled by Alice McCabe from the "original book". In her introduction I'd like to quote the first paragraph. "In the Probate Judge's offices are many treasures relating to Gwinnett County history and genealogy. Many have been untapped because people think that 'everything burned' in the Courthouse fire of 1871". Regarding the book Alice abstracted: "he dates alone tell that it survived the fire".... Just thought I'd bring this point up...... Annette Please Visit Some Of My Web Sites: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Acres/3897/enter.html

    1. Re: [GAGWINNE-L] Will do Look-ups!
    2. Just curious: why does no one volunteer to look up the 1880 census? Is there one for Gwinnett? Probably not--every county I need has had some disaster! My favorite excuse is for a county in Ohio--1870 is illegible. GREAT! Wonderful records no one can read! Can you tell I'm frustrated? 'Cause there's a perfectly good census for a county in Texas where my man should be--and he isn't in it! Bleah!!!! Sorry--a little venting probably irritates, but.... Hope all of you have better luck! Karen

    3. Polly's father was Thomas Connally and was born in 1742 in Chapel Hill, Orange County, NC. He died in 1824 at Suwanee Village Gwinnett County. He is buried in the Strickland Graveyard Near Suwanee. His father was John Connally, and his mother was Margaret "Peggy" Oldham. She comes from a long and distinguished line as well.Thomas married Mary Polly Price she was born in 1745 in Norfolk, County Virginia. And died in Madison County, Ga. Her fathr was Edward Price and her mother was Jane Prescott. If the geneology report is correct Thomas and Mary had 28 children several of them twins. Or within 9 months of each other. Some I donot have specific dates on their births. But I do have a list. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you let me know. Good hunting.
