    1. John Heard--Rev Marker

    3. I am a descendant of John Heard who moved into this area of Greene Co. when it was still Washington Co. ca 1786. The DAR had put a marker up for John on the south side of GA State Route 15 or in that area not far from Washington sometime back in the 1930's. They said that he had served the Rev War in GA. However, like so many of the early DAR papers and ideas this is NOT correct. John was a citizen of VA and can be documented there during the War years. However, some of his family had moved to GA in the 1770's and did serve from GA, but not this John Heard. My question is to anyone living in the area. Is that marker still there? I looked for it, but didn't know if I was looking in the right place or if they had removed it because the data on it was not accurate. If it is still there, has the data on it been corrected? Thanks. Eleanor

    3. Eleanor: I'm sorry I don't have any information on the marker but I have a question about John Heard. I have two Heard ancestors from Greene County. I wonder if you have any information on them and if they were related to the John Heard you mention? Amelia Heard (b.abt 1790) m. John Bell in Greene Co., GA Catherine Heard (b. abt 1780) m. Jason Palmertree in Greene Co., GA Thanks for any help.
