This is my family. Augustine Greene's daughter, Sarah, married Richard J. Harris in 1843 in Greensboro, GA. They had several children including my great grandfather, Augustine Greene Harris. Sarah Greene is buried alongside Augustine Greene Harris and his wife Belle Snellings Harris, and several of their children at the city cemetery of Greensboro. Richard Harris died of dysentery in Dalton GA during the Civil War, and is buried at the Confederate Cemetery at Dalton - one of two known soldiers buried in that cemetery. We went to Greensboro over the summer to find graves and such. We drove out to Lemuel Greene's family farm which is a private residence. We also drove out to the church where Phoebe Burke Greene was a member. We would love to find exactly where Augustine Greene and Phoebe Burke lived. I know Augustine died at Lemuel's farm of small pox. My grandparents grew up in Greensboro. My grandfather and his family (Augustine Greene Harris and Belle Snellings Harris) lived in town not far from the railroad tracks, but my dad and aunt can't remember which house was theirs. My grandfather (Richard Hillman Harris) left Greensboro as a young man in the early 1900s and moved to Atlanta. He was a very interesting character, and I am working on a biography about him.
