English married Martha Lurry (Leary) October 1859 in GA. I cannot tie him to a family in 1860 census, which I should be able to do, as he would have been married. He served in the GA Cavalry; received pension in TX. I first find him in TX 1870 together with his family and a child named Audora English born May 1859 (which may or may not be his child). She died before as a young teen ager. Steven English who married Cheney, had two sons, John and Howell; they lived near my James English in Dallas (all born GA) in 1910, 1920, then they all moved together with the Rodgers to Irving, TX; where they remained. Howell English is even buried in the same cemetery as James N. English. James English stated in the 1910 census that he married 3 times, yet we can only find Martha Lurry (Leary) GA and Stellen Vick of TX, listed in census with him. He was missing for some time period after civil war, and I always wonder, did he marry someone while he was missing?; then return home to Martha? He was supposed dead for such a long period of time that his wife Martha had to be put to bed from shock at seeing him standing on her porch. Unfortunately, I don't know if this was in GA or TX; as he was in Smith Co, TX 1870 with Martha and their first three children: Audora 1859 GA, Anna Mariah 1863 GA, and Martha TX 1869. Of course there were more children born in TX, later on. Yet, I can't prove how they connect. Any suggestions would be helpful. Also, there are Rice families near them in Dallas, if that means anything to you.
