    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ic.2ADI/60.943.1004.1.1 Message Board Post: Mr. Roark, Thank you for your message. It is my belief that James Henry Crouch, Sr. (ca. 1805-1888) was the son of George and Betsy Crouch; however, I do not have any documentation to back that up. I have a cousin in GA who along with several others also believe this but they do not have any solid documentation either. The closest any of us can come to documentation is a letter from a Mr. N.R. Adamson dated 1936. This Mr. Adamson must have been quite old to have known some of these people when he wrote the letter. I do not know to whom the letter was written. I have not seen a copy of the actual letter, just a transcription which I will repeat as follows: "A man named Crouch moved to Putnam Co. GA from NC about 1810 with his family. I think he died in Putnam Co. GA. I heard of his having five sons, no daughters: Thomas, Shadrac, Joseph, James and George. They moved to Merriwether Co. GA about 1830. Thomas' descendants are in Merriwether Co. now. I know some great-grandchildren of Thomas'. He lived to be 94. One, a Tom Crouch, lives in Ocilla, GA. "Shad" moved to Heard Co. ca. 1840. It was here he married his two wives. Some of his descendants are at Temple, TX and Lanette, AL. James went to Randolph Co., AL. His descendants live there now. I learn from Tom Crouch of Oscilla, GA that others are at Dawson, GA. I think they may be descendants of George. N.R. Adamson, 1936." >From additional research by various cousins, we learned that Shadrac Crouch (15 June 1801-18 Oct. 1881) married Elizabeth Norris on 17 June 1830 and had 7 children by her. His second wife was Catherine Eliza Prince. They had 9 children. He died in Heard Co., GA. Joseph (ca. 1803-?)married Elizabeth Joiner on 20 Dec. 1824. They had 6 children, the oldest of whom was Thomas Woodard Crouch. Many of Thomas' descendants went to Temple, TX. (Can you add anything to this?) James Henry Crouch, Sr. (ca. 1805-15 July 1888)married Martha Joiner. They had 6 children. His second wife was Catherine Dawner. James is buried on his farm in Randolph Co., AL. George Crouch (nothing is known about him) Thomas B. Crouch (18 Oct. 1811-ca. 1905). He married Lucy Alexander Evans on 15 May 1832 in Putnam Co., GA. Nothing more known about him. I hope this has been of some help to you. If you can add to any of this, we would be greatful. If you have any documentation that can substantiate any of this, we would very much appreciate your sharing that.
