Morgenthaler will present "The Genealogist and the Family Photo: How New Technology Can Make It Easy" at the regular monthly meeting of the East Georgia Genealogical Society at the LDS Church on Sims RD in Winder. Jim is an entertaining as well very knowledgeable and informative speaker. He retired from the University of Georgia in 2000 where he was head of Creative Services at Instructional Support and Development. He did television, film, still photography and computer graphics. He has taught photography for 30 years and has been working with digital imaging for 18 years. He currently teaches a variety of film and digital courses at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education at UGA. For this talk, he will demonstrate how to scan and repair/restore photographic images using Photoshop/Photoshop Elements. However, the techniques that he will demonstrate are applicable to all imaging software. He will also discuss aspects of sharing photos with others in digital formats and the best techniques for producing digital images for printed publications, for electronic distribution including email, and for archival purposes. You will likely return home eager to use your scanner and your image editing software to scan and clean up your own treasured family photographs. Those interested may bring some of their own images.
