    3. I can tell you this. Arthur FOSTER, Jr. RS-VA (1757-1846) married (1st) an Elizabeth GLENN of Southampton County, VA on 12 Feb 1790 in Greene County, GA. Arthur was from Halifax County, VA and he later married Hannah JOHNSON BEF 1810, so Elizabeth GLENN must have died before then. My interest is in his children by Hannah JOHNSON because two of them end up in Morgan County, GA in a later time frame -- Judge Nathaniel Greene FOSTER, Esq. and Col. Albert Gallatin FOSTER, Esq. of Madison, GA. This Southampton County, VA return address may be a link to your GLENNS. John R. 3. Hi, From a look at the names you list, this sounds like your John Holmes MILNER was a son of Benjamin MILNER (1772-1828) and Penelope HOLMES. Benjamin was a son of John MILNER and Elizabeth GODWIN of Oglethorpe County, GA. I think the Reverend MILNER you are talking about was John, Jr. who married Elizabeth CALLAWAY and this John, Jr was a younger brother of Benjamin.. I do not think John, Jr. was the father of this John Holmes MILNER since John, Jr was not born until 1775 and Elizabeth until 1779, so they were both too young to be the parents of your John born 1792. My guess is - Benjamin and Penelope were his parents. Notice the Penelope in your John's family. I also do not have any more information on them...... John R. 1. [Greene] FW: [GADATA] Ga-Spalding-Fulton Co. Obituary (Putnam)
    2. Linda Barton
    3. Lynn, This is the obit for John Israel Putnam, son of James M. Putnam. It might be of interest to Greene researchers also as he is a descendant of a Greene County family. The other one is for S. W. Putnam - I assume Susan Willis Putnam - you had her death date as 1833 but it appears to be 1883 if she was born in 1815. Also, the obituary says she was married in 1856 and I am wondering if that is in error and should be the date for some other "event" as her son, John Israel Putnam was born in 1832. Let me know what you think about that when it comes through. It will be going to Fayette as that is the only county referenced. He was the son of Col. James M. Putnam, and grandson, on his mother's side, of Rev. John H. Milner. He joined the Pinetuckee Baptist chuch, in Randolph county, Alabama, during the year 1855, and was baptized by Rev. Bro. Morris. He was married in Griffin, in 1858, to Miss J. Augusta Porter, Rev. Adiel Sherwood performing the ceremony. He afterwards baptized Mrs. Putnam. Israel Putnam was proud of his ancestry, being a descendant of the celebrated Israel Putnam, of American Revolution fame, and, on his mother's side, a descendant of the distinguished Milner family. He was a man of remarkable energy and industry. He had fine success as an insurance agent, for many years in Atlanta. He loved church work, and especially Sunday-school work, and thus was very useful as a Christian. But he has gone from us to the land of rest, for which he seemed fully prepared -- his faith remaining firm to the last, not wavering during his long and painful afflictions. May God's blessing rest upon the remaining members of his family. ??????? M. Henry Carleton Jr. C.C.O" Hi, This post really caught my attention, especially a HARDWICK and a Thomas CRAWFORD in the same will. I do not have David HARDWICK but I have Mary "Mollie" HARDWICK (b. ABT 1763) who married Rene FITZPATRICK RS-VA, brother of Capt. Benjamin FITZPATRICK of Greene County, GA and anyone around this FITZPATRICK bunch, I am really interested in. I am also starting to think Thomas CRAWFORD, Jr. of Greene County, GA, mentioned in this will, is the Thomas who married Martha COLEMAN and he may be the son of a Thomas CRAWFORD of Edgecombe (now Halifax) County, NC who married an ALSTON girl and if so, I am really interested...... That Henry CARLTON, Jr. listed as the clerk on this will, also interests me. If this Henry, Jr. was a son of the Henry CARLTON of SC who married a Lucy and were the parents of Lucy Ann CARLTON (b. ABT 1784, SC-1870, Troup County, GA) who married John Harris PONDER, Sr.(1786-1864) of Morgan County, GA, then this really, really interests me........ John R. 1. Re: [Greene] Will of John Whatley - Greene Co., Georgia wills
    2. John R. Clarke
    3. Hi, I wonder if your John WHATLEY is related to Col. Abner WHATLEY (1791-1844) of Edgefield County, SC. He married a WILSON girl. Abner was the son of Edmund WHATLEY and Phyllis MARCUS of the same. The WRIGHTS were from New Castle, DE and are tied to the George BUSH and Elander SAPP family of Barnwell County, SC. The BUSHES were from Bertie County, NC. The reason I ask is because Col. Abner WHATLEY was the father of Virginia C. WHATLEY (1833-1911) who married John Miller WRIGHT (1832-1910) of Hammond, Aiken County, South Carolina. Their daughter, Junie Whatley WRIGHT (1866-1900) married Col. William Richter MUSTIN, Esq. (1857-1901) of Madison, GA on 25 Apr 1894 in Beech Island, SC, the home of the WRIGHTS and WHATLEYS. Willie, a graduate of Mercer University and a prominent attorney in Madison, was my 1C1R. He and Junie died childless and both are buried in the City Cemetery, Madison, Morgan County, GA with the rest of the RICHTER family. John R. 1. [Greene] Re: "Redd"
    2. John R. Clarke
    3. Kitty, The only REDD I carry, not family that I know of, is that of a James Kelso REDD born 1803 who married Mary Elizabeth LEWIS born 1813 in Troup County, GA. Their daughter, Mary Lewis REDD (1837-1867) born in Troup County, GA married Calvin Evans JOHNSTON (1827-1901) of Madison, Morgan County, Ga in 1854. They lived in Columbus, Muscogee County, GA and are buried in Linwood Cemetery, there. Notice the KELSO connection to this REDD family..... Calvin was the son of Lancelot JOHNSTON, Esq. II (1790-1866) and a Margaret JONES of "Snow Hill" in Madison, Morgan County, GA. Lancelot JOHNSTON fits the profile of the KELSOS, who we know were tied to a DANIEL family of Greene County, GA - the Kelso, Cunningham, Daniel bunch out of PE County, VA. Calvin's sister, Elizabeth JOHNSTON (ABT 1825-BEF 1868) married Antoine POULLAIN II (1815-1900) of Lexington, Oglethorpe County, GA. Antoine also married Rebecca Louise LAMAR in 1868, the daughter of George Washington LAMAR and Sarah Walker HARKOW. These POULLAINS lived in Madison, Morgan County, GA. Any family tied to the POULLAINS, I am always interested in. Lancelot JOHNSTON was not "po" by any shape of one's imagination. This is a high-stepping family that only ties into the best of families, as were the POULLAINS. I do not think all of the information we see often listed for this Kelso-Cunningham-Daniel bunch in Greene County, GA is completely accurate. It's close, but no cigar. It would appear, they are missing some vital connections and may have others convoluted and commingled with other DANIELS of Greene County, GA. I think the Charles DANIELL (1773-1800) of Greene County, GA is probably a part of this Kelso, Cunningham, Daniel bunch of Greene County, GA. Matches their profile, married a COFFEE who we know are tied to this KCD bunch and generally fits in this family better than any other DANIEL family in Greene County, GA. . 3. Hi, I would love to hear about your O'DONNELLS,. like where they came from, etc. That mention of Hancock County, GA in this post makes me really want to look at the DANIELL family of Hancock County, GA, which was actually part of the O'DANIEL family out of Fairfax County, VA. Some of this bunch became, DANIEL, some DANIELL and some kept the O'DANIEL name, but O'DONNELL may just be another spelling we do not know about. The O'DANIEL family was generally a bunch of high-steppers connected to well-connected families in both VA, SC and GA. . John R. Clarke LA - DANIEL and O'DANIEL Family Mailing Lists.
