    3. Lee Anne, Thanks for the information. I have looked at Wm. Greene from every angle, old, young, etc. and can only find reference to him in the marriage announcement and on GAB Greene's headstone. You are so right about confirming your information. I always try to have some hard facts before I enter it into a tree or any information that is passed on to others. At this point I need a place to start with Mr. Greene to even prove a fact. One comment about marriages. It is good to start with the assumption that people married for the first time in their 20s, but realize that they could have been younger or older and that they might have been married before. Some in my ancestry were in their 30s. Others married older and younger. Many women died in pregnancy, childbirth or complications thereof. Also, it is so wonderful to find research that others have done on your ancestor when you can. But always confirm it yourself to be sure it checks out. 3. In the 1821 Land Lottery, I see two lots were won by John A. Bates of Slaughter's Military Distict: Lot 121 Secion 4 in Monroe County and Lot 75 in Section 5 in Dooly County. Under what circumstances were men able to win two lots? I'd like to see if there are any other records that might give me more information. Do you know if applications for these lotteries survived? Does anyone have an index to land sales in Greene County, Monroe County, and Dooly County between 1821 and 1824? Lee Anne
