I know these THOMPKINS (descendants of Giles) were tied to the KILPATRICK family of Morgan and Putnam Counties. John R. 3. Hi, This is probably part of the LEDBETTERS who migrated from Charles City County, VA to Brunswick County, VA and some later over into NC and GA. I have them tied to the RANDLES, and we know that was a Greene County, GA family, don't we? I know part of this line came into GA -- Hall County, GA. Another part moved over into Stanley County, NC and I do not know what happened to that line, afterwards. The WILLIAMSONS were tied to this early LEDBETTER line, as well as the WALTONS and we know where some of them went to, don't we ? A lot of these folks from the Isaac Rowe WALTON and Elizabeth LEDBETTER family of Brunswick County, VA roll also into my RICHTER family, too. You might say, a good portion of this whole bunch rolls right into my RICHTER family in Madison, Morgan County, GA in the late 1800's. Another part of my family also ties into the HUNTERS, COLEMANS, RAWLS, SANFORDS, DANIELS, all of Greene County, GA, in about the same time frame. John R. 3. Hi, I would look for these ECHOLS to be out of Cumberland County, VA, maybe Goochland before their migration to GA. If not one of them, that general area.... This is the same migration path the FITZPATRICKS of later Greene County, GA followed. John R. 1. Re: [Greene] Scull Shoals/BACKUS/CARR/PARTEE/WILSON
    2. John R. Clarke
    3. I have some information on a LT. Samuel CARR born 1745 in Louisa County, VA. I have it that he died in the RW. Samuel had brothers, Overton, Garland and Dabney CARR. Dabney did not live very long and then Martha married John William BOLLING and they and their kids lived in Chesterfield County, VA. These CARR boys were the sons of John CARR (1706-1788) and Barbara OVERTON of Bear Castle, Louisa Co, VA. I see a lot of families in Greene and Morgan that seem to be connected to a lot of the families I also see in Thomas County, GA where some of my folks ended up. The CARLTONS are one of these and I think they came through Wilkes on the way to Greene and Morgan. I have lots of other collaterals in Greene County, GA - the COLEMANS, HUNTERS, SANFORDS, DANIELS, RALLS and probably the RANDALS. This bunch ties right into my RICHTER family of Morgan, through my grand uncle. However, I cannot connect my DANIEL bunch of Jefferson County, GA to this DANIEL family of Greene County, GA, yet both DANIEL families tie in at the same level, one to my grand uncle and the other to my grandfather. The WINGFIELDS, TERRELLS, PETTUS, CALLAWAYS and their collateral bunch are probably also in this little group, and if so, this points right back into the Cunningham-Daniel bunch of Greene County. This Cunningham-Daniel bunch of Greene County also has the right "moves" to tie into other parts of my family in MD and probably Augusta County, VA, as well as the PONDERS who also flowed down this same route from PA to GA. However, my best indication is my DANIEL and LANE bunch was from eastern NC, Johnston, Dobbs and Greene County, NC to be exact. However, there is some indication they to may flow back to MD, as well. Whatever, I feel pretty confident the BRYANS are in this equation, as well as the CASONS and CANNONS. John R. 3. John, The CARR family I'm researching is much earlier. Samuel CARR, no birth date or place, but my guess is he was born in the 1770s. His wife was Nancy (maiden name unknown), b. abt 1770-75 in NC. They were probably married before 1803 in NC. Their daughter, Elizabeth, b. 1805-1810 married Walter A. PARTEE in Greene Co., GA. Samuel CARR died some time before 1860 which is when is will was administrated. I don't have any other information on him. Darleen Miller

    3. Hi, I have some CARRS with ties to Morgan and Richmond County, GA. Charles D. CARR, Esq. (1861-1932) was of Charleston but lived most of his life in Augusta. Charlie was a wholesale merchant in Augusta ( he owned the Augusta Grocery Company), a leading civic leader of Augusta and his wife was out of the MUSTIN family of Madison, Morgan County, GA. The MUSTINS were also of Augusta, Richmond County, GA and were also in the same type of business in Augusta as was Charlie CARR and the MUSTINS of Madison. Charles Daniel CARR was born in Charleston but he was a descendant of the Dabney CARR, Esq. and Martha JEFFERSON family of Charlottesville, VA -- Martha was Tommy's sister. Does this sound like any of your bunch? Charles and Mary Louise MUSTIN (1865-1956) had no children. John R. 3. The remains of Scull Shoals are presently a "ghost town" in the northern part of the Oconee National Forest, and you can find out about it by looking at information about the National Forest. However, the name Scull Shoals goes back before there was a town. It was used as a reference point in a letter from Col. (or perhaps general by that time) Elijah Clarke to the governor of Georgia in February of 1788, reporting the murder by Creek Indians of my 4-great grandfather Captain John Autry.
