Hi: Number 3 should be number 1: For Jesus Christ, the King of Kings, the Lord of Lord that gave His life for all humanity. We all should remember that God is in control and He will get the glory out of this bad situation. I got this from a few of my lists. Normally I would not pass this on to my lists, but these are different times. I think this is a fabulous idea -------- And it certainly does make sense to me. A movement has been started like that from Desert Storm. During Desert Storm we tied yellow ribbons anywhere we could. Well, now the movement is to tie purple ribbons the same way. This is for two reasons. 1. In remembrance of not only the firefighters, police officers, paramedics who have died, but also for all who have died in this terrible tragedy. 2. Just as in the military, when a serviceman get injured, he is given the Purple Heart. Well, our country has been injured to its core. Please pass this on to everyone you know, and let's see purple ribbons everywhere. Along with the flag of the United States of America.
When did you start sending all GAGREENE records by attachments. I do not like to open attachments. I have had to have my computer reformated and changed security anti virus each time this year. We are cautioned to not open unless we know the person and call them to be sure what they sent. Sending your messages on attachments will keep me from obtaining any in the future unless you can cahnge this procedure. I have loved my Greene County e-mails in the past and hope you can continue to send direct. His mother was Mary who was born in Georgia in 1847. His father, a Gresham, was born in Georgia. The only info I have, I have gotten from the 1910 Florida census. Albert married Florence W. Chapell in 1910, Manatee Co, Fl, where their 2 sons were born. His mother Mary's parents were from North Carolina. My grandparents, whom I've never known, divorced and their sons were raised by the maternal grandparents. I would like to learn more about the Gresham side as I have so much info on the Chapell side, but I seem to have hit a wall. Hoping for a connection, I thank you for any help. Jean [email protected]
I am descended from Rev. Hilman Williams and Sarah Elizabeth Mell who married in Warren County, Georgia. Is Warren County close to Greene County?

It is my belief that James Henry Crouch, Sr. (ca. 1805-1888) was the son of George and Betsy Crouch; however, I do not have any documentation to back that up. I have a cousin in GA who along with several others also believe this but they do not have any solid documentation either. The closest any of us can come to documentation is a letter from a Mr. N.R. Adamson dated 1936. This Mr. Adamson must have been quite old to have known some of these people when he wrote the letter. I do not know to whom the letter was written. I have not seen a copy of the actual letter, just a transcription which I will repeat as follows: "A man named Crouch moved to Putnam Co. GA from NC about 1810 with his family. I think he died in Putnam Co. GA. I heard of his having five sons, no daughters: Thomas, Shadrac, Joseph, James and George. They moved to Merriwether Co. GA about 1830. Thomas' descendants are in Merriwether Co. now. I know some great-grandchildren of Thomas'. He lived to be 94. One, a Tom Crouch, lives in Ocilla, GA. "Shad" moved to Heard Co. ca. 1840. It was here he married his two wives. Some of his descendants are at Temple, TX and Lanette, AL. James went to Randolph Co., AL. His descendants live there now. I learn from Tom Crouch of Oscilla, GA that others are at Dawson, GA. I think they may be descendants of George. N.R. Adamson, 1936." >From additional research by various cousins, we learned that Shadrac Crouch (15 June 1801-18 Oct. 1881) married Elizabeth Norris on 17 June 1830 and had 7 children by her. His second wife was Catherine Eliza Prince. They had 9 children. He died in Heard Co., GA. Joseph (ca. 1803-?)married Elizabeth Joiner on 20 Dec. 1824. They had 6 children, the oldest of whom was Thomas Woodard Crouch. Many of Thomas' descendants went to Temple, TX. (Can you add anything to this?) James Henry Crouch, Sr. (ca. 1805-15 July 1888)married Martha Joiner. They had 6 children. His second wife was Catherine Dawner. James is buried on his farm in Randolph Co., AL. George Crouch (nothing is known about him) Thomas B. Crouch (18 Oct. 1811-ca. 1905). He married Lucy Alexander Evans on 15 May 1832 in Putnam Co., GA. Nothing more known about him. I hope this has been of some help to you. If you can add to any of this, we would be greatful. If you have any documentation that can substantiate any of this, we would very much appreciate your sharing that.

That list of 149 names, was for CSA soldiers who died in the CSA General hospital between 1864-1865. I don't know if this was a partial list, or the full list. I was told that many of the men were buried in unmarked graves, and no markers were put up. I visited that graveyard at the Greenwood Cemetery and broused around for about an hour. The markers I saw were pretty much helter skelter. Not alpha, nor even by War. A CSA grave might be next to a WW 1, Spanish-American, or WW 11 grave. Some of the markers were so worn, it was difficult to make out the soldiers name. I understand there is a move on to identify individual graves. You might contact the library and tell them you are interested in the Grave Location Project. Please mention that you got the information from me. The people at the library were especially helpful.

In your list of Hospital Deaths, do you have a George Shell. He is supposed to have died of measles in 1864. Thanks.
