I have never been able to find out who my Judith B.'s mom was. Judith's mom's first name was Elizabeth and she married about 1815 a Mr. Shelton. I believe that the B, in all of the Judith's names, could be for Bruce, Ballou, or Bradley. These families all lived in Virginia together including your Watts, the Sheltons, and the Early family. My husband's family of Kilmers married into the Early family, and many of the lines married into the Watt's family of Georgia, etc. I know thatt the Georgia history books have information on Judith B. Watts Early of Georgia. I think if you write the archives or local counties someone can copy the information for you. If you find out what your B. means, please let me know. Cindy

Does anyone know of a book for Greene County that recorded marriages of African-Americans performed right after the Civil War? These were unions that former slaves wanted sanctioned by law. Some of these registers gave lots of details....it really depended on the County Clerk. There might have been a pre-Civil War "colored marriages" register for Greene County as well. If you have access to either of these would you please look up Fed Park, b. 1838. I am looking for the name of his spouse and the mother of his children. Thanks! G. Did he have a son named William born about 1789? How old was Rebecca when she married Abner Bruce? When did Abner Bruce die? I show a Rebecca Bruce living in the household of William Bruce in the 1850 Coffee County TN census and I don't believe she was a daughter as she was 35 at that time. This William Bruce was married in Jones County GA in 1819 to Joyce Terry.
