There are two possible NSDAR eligible lines on the EDMONDS/BUCKNER lines in Halifax County, Virginia. Francis Edmunds, etc. might have been a Colonial Soldier from Calvert County, Maryland. However, Calvert is a "burned" county. There are lots of Edmonds across the Bay from there in Northunberland County, Virginia, along with my Booth line, but no Francis man's given name that I have found. My Booths were on my father's side in Edgefield District, South Carolina, and my line never came to Georgia. Francis Edmonds d. with a will in Wilkes Co., Georgia, in 1799. My maternal grandmother was an Edmonds from Rayle in Wilkes County, Georgia, though she spend a large part of her growning up years and all of her married life in Greene County, Georgia, in the Durhamtown Community between Temerpance Belle Crossroads and Bethesda Church. I have a lot of Edmonds information, but there just don't seem to be enough early Georgia records to make the connections to a lot of the threads. I need the parents of James Crow who was on the 1850 and 1860 Census of Clarke County, Georgia, and the 1870 and 1880 Census of Greene County, Georgia. He married in Clarke Co., Ga., 1846 to Mary Frances Allen, probably the daughter of Sarah Robinson and Phillip Allen, Rev. Sol. There were two contemporary James Crows in Clarke Co., Ga. and a lot of research has been by otherS on that Crow family there and my James Crow does not seem to fit. Have no idea what happened to the other family members after 1880. This James Crow was not a farmer, but some type of mill warker or mechanic according to the census which probably explains why he was not found in the land records of either county. Two known children eventually moved to Augusta, Georgia. Vivian Toole Cates, Rt. #2 Box 52-A, Alto, Texas 75925

He first married Nancy ___, and they had several children in Greene County. After Nancy's death, he married Mary Knight, and they had several children. William and Mary moved from Greene County to Wedowee, Alabama. William's children from the first marriage settled in Greene County. According to oral history, William was a cousin of Pres. Andrew Jackson. Since some of Andrew Jackson's uncles settled in Greene County, this is possible. Thus, I am interested in also corresponding with any descendants of the uncles of Andrew Jackson, some of whom served in the Rev. War. : My e-mail address is [email protected] : : : : ==== GAGREENE Mailing List ==== : Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness : http://raogk.rootsweb.com/ :
