I have already researched N.C. with no luck. By 1850, Daniel was in Henry Co. AL. My dad always told me his family came from GA. The 1830 census lists James with one male under 5. I am searching in GA first, because of what my Dad said, and second, because Daniel was in ??GA between 1865 and 1874. Shirley >[email protected]<

I can't figure out the connection between Dudley Peeples, Elizabeth Cook Peeples and John Peeples Emerson. I think Dudley Peeples must have had guardianship papers for John Peeples Emerson in Greene County. I really need the parents of John Peebles(Peeples) Emerson...I think this is a clue. Please help! Thanks, Ginny

Anabaptist, please. "Anti" would mean against baptism. Anabaptists were so much *FOR* baptism that they insisted that infant christening was inadequate and that Christians must properly be "rebaptised" as adults based on faith... not on their parents' faith. The anabaptist label, like many other labels, was applied by their opponents... in this case during the Protestant Reformation. These days they are just called Baptists. <G> RW [email protected] wrote: >Geri, >I have a Wood/s in Jackson Co area after 1800. Pendlton Dist SC 1800. Geri, I have a Wood/s in Jackson Co area after 1800. Pendlton Dist SC 1800. Also the Wood/s that I seek I believe to be Anti-Baptist. It is a far reach to connect YET. However I've wondered what brought them into this area. Your Elizabeth maybe a connection but I have no proof. You'd have to work it out. The Edgecomb Co Wood's are there but they are the ones that come into the country.Their are some in Anson Co NC. I had a hard time following but was able to do it thru the Wake Forrest Univ Baptist collection and the Baptist records. NC archives has Pendelton Dist records and then GA had early land records and I was able to follow into GA. Then back into Rutherford Co NC for 1812. From there into TEXAS. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ic.2ADI/959.1.1.1.1 Message Board Post: Yes, George Washington Kinney is the son of David Kinney and Ann Barber (born ca. 1800 Athens, Clarke County, Georgia). Ann, daughter of Robert Barber, and, son-in-law, David Kinney are listed in Robert Barber's Will Clarke County, Georgia. Will Book C pages 162-165; Proved 4 Nov 1850. Robert and Sarah Barber were some of the earliest settlers of Clarke County, Georgia, and owned considerable property in Clarke & Jackson Counties. Their home was on what is now Barber Street in Athens, Georgia. To find more info on the Barber/Orr line look at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~dmorgan/chapter3.html David Kinney is thought to be the brother of Jonathan Kinney (my line) they are most likely the sons of John Kinney who in enumerated 1820 in Clarke County, GA. David and Jonathan Kinney live near each other in Jackson County, GA per the 1850 census. There are 2 sets of Kinney's living in Clarke County per the 1820 census. One spelled Kenney with an "e" is from PA and came to Clarke County through Wilkes County. The other spelled with an "i" is said to have come to Georgia from North Carolina. None with this spelling are listed as being born anyplace other than Georgia on the 1850 census. They most likely settled the area that later became Clarke & Jackson Counties the summer of 1786 with a lawyer, William Clark, from Wolf Island (coastal Georgia) who brough in the settlers consisting of 127 men, women, & children to Fort Strong, Talasee Colony of Georgia. A Kinney is listed in theis group. He is listed as "Elkin Kinney" however some evidence exist that "Elkin" might! be another families sur-name which over time became conjuncted with Kinney making a full name out of 2 last names so the first name of the Kinney who settled the area in 1786 is not known for sure. A eairly geneology book "Gone to Georgia" states all Kinney's in this area of Georgia listed on the 1820 Census are related to this fist Kinney. 1850 Jackson County 14 356 356 Kinney David 60 M W Farmer 3,000 GA 15 356 356 Kinney Nancy 52 F W GA 16 356 356 Kinney Philip 14 M W GA 17 356 356 Kinney Sarah 12 F W GA 18 357 357 Archer Sarah 16 F W GA 19 357 357 Kinney Robert 22 M W Farmer GA X 20 357 357 Kinney Pennina J. 16 F W GA X 36 232 232 Kinney George 25 M W Farmer 500 GA 37 232 232 Kinney Eliza A. 23 F W GA 38 232 232 Kinney David J. 3 M W GA 39 232 232 Kinney Nancy A. 2 F W GA By 1860 George Kinney is in Floyd County and is listed there in GA Confederate pension records as a pioneer settler of Floyd County. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression. I am the Regional Coordinator for the East Central GAGenWeb. What that means is, I am the sounding board if you have any issues with the county webpage maintainer. I am also there to assist the web page coordinator if they have problems. I also have a team that is going to go around to each web page and make certain they are up to the USGenWeb and the GaGenWeb standards. They will check links and make certain they work and the content is still appropriate. If I find new sites I will suggest that they link to them. I have a lot of ties to this area of Georgia so I will jump in and help with queries where I can. The USGenWeb has no control over county mailing lists, so don't write me with complaints. Write [email protected] when you have problems, not the list. I intend to help increase traffic to our pages. I am there to help encourage you to share your data for the Web Pages. I will tell you of any great genealogy tools I find. Now for about me. I have been an active researcher since 1964. (Yes before Roots, and I am not affiliated with the LDS church) I was ten years old when I started. I teach genealogy as a community service. I help seniors learn to use their own computers. I have just returned to work after a hiatus for two years. During that time I devoted my life 14 hours a day to the community. I help folks get started in their own research. I am a county coordinator for 5 US counties. I maintain 31 message boards and am the list maintainer on about the same amount of mailing lists. Everything I do regarding genealogy and internet research is a free service. I am normally a retail manager but have now gone into medical management. First time to have a Monday-Friday 8 to 5 job in 30 years! I am the mother of 3 sons, one fantastic daughter-in-law and identical twin granddaughters. We are expecting another grandchild in July. The most important part of my life is my hubby of almost 28 years. Just so you know, we have elderly parents in very poor health that I will stop everything else to help. I also have PKD, but it is progressing slowly. Now you know all about me, thank you Toby Keith! Laura
