Reuben was born in 1825 in either Wilkes or Greene County Georgia. We have never had much luck tracing past Reuben but have recently found that he was a member of Bethesda Baptist in Greene County in 1845. I know that this church is situated in what was Wilkes County and wonder if my Bennett line might be related to your Bennett line. Any information would be appreciated. Best, David Bennett

Surnames: Ranson, Knowles Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ic.2ADI/1247 Message Board Post: I am researching my maternal grandmother's family from Russell County, Alabama. Her mother, Mary Jane Knowles, was born in/near White Plains in Greene County in 1829. Mary Jane's parents were Britton Knowles and Rebecca Ransom. I am interested in any information about either of these families. Apparently, her father died and her mother remarried - to whom I do not know. Also, I understand that Mary Jane and her siblings lived with an uncle or some other relative until each of them married. I have found a Sarah Knowles and a Tabitha Knowles who each married in Russell County where my greatgrandmother married as well - which leads me to think that they moved either to Russell County or at least nearby. There was also a mention in some of the family history research that I have read that there was a son as well as the daughters. Please contact me with nay information at [email protected]

    3. No guarantees, but there is a ring ( one of those bunch of names wherein everyone marries everyone else) in Warren Co, North Carolina in the 1770-1790 period, of Maddox/Mattux, Horton, Harris, Riggan/Regan/Riggins/Ragan. They split , and by the early 1800's a big group of the same cast of characters is in either Tennessee or Georgia. Tennessee was the base of a lot of Rev War land grants used to pay off soldiers and Georgia had land lotteries. Both of these branches eventually have family in Ark and AL..You might check for land records in TN or GA..I am the GA to AL arm.
