It is my understanding that the area of Fort Mountain itself is in Murray County. My brother lives on the southeastern side and his address is Chatsworth. The county line of Murray/Gilmer is a few miles from Fort Mountain. This is not to say that the boundaries did not change over the years. You would have to look into the history of the boundaries of the two counties. Good Luck!
