Surnames: JONES, MCCLURE Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Fc.2ADI/1191.1.1.1 Message Board Post: We have found an 1848 Gilmer County marriage record for Thomas J. JONES, age 20, and Margaret Matilda McCLURE (age 14). Other than that, we know nothing of their Gilmer County ties. The couple later lived in Whitfield County through the Civil War where Thomas served in the GA 39th. They migrated west to Howell Township, Johnson County, AR, sometime around 1878. The family, for the most part, remained there. We think, but have not proven, that Matilda McClure's parents were Richard and Sarah (maiden name unknown) McClure, who appeared on the 1860 and 1870 census near Thomas and Matilda.
