In case you didn't see the newspaper: May 22nd special guest Dr. Charles Walker, author and historian will be a speaker at the library meeting room regarding some of the Cherokee history and genealogy researching for ancestors who may have told their family they are Indian. In addition Doug Mabry, author, historian, teacher and researcher with the Trail of Tears Association will also be speaking on some of the efforts in Georgia to uncover the past. Also Dr. Lucian Lamar Sneed has been invited to speak about efforts to recognize Georgia's Cherokees. Dr. Sneed is the director of the Georgia Tribe of Eastern Cherokee which is a state recognized tribe.
