Ken, My ancestor was HANNAH PATTERSON, who married OSBORN HOLT before 1829 in Habersham County, GA. HANNAH, daughter of JOHN PATTERSON, was born 1809 - 1820 in SC, died between June 1840 - December 18, 1843 in Gilmer County. JOHN PATTERSON was born 1790 - 1800. The family lived in SC, then in Habersham County, GA before settling in Gilmer County. They may have also lived in Rabun County, GA at one time. Do you have any idea how Bailey Patterson was related to John and Hannah? I have been unsuccessful in tracing them, and would like to know who John's wife and parents were, and where they came from. 1850 (GILMER) GA FEDERAL CENSUS, (LDS Microfilm #7066.), p. 408a & b, H/H 847, 30 Oct. 1850. Eliza A. Patterson, born in GA, was 9 by 01 June 1850. Her parents were Bailey & Mary Patterson. Ethelene Dyer Jones, Ed., FACETS of FANNIN, (Rpt., 1989. Blue Ridge, GA: Blue Ridge Kiwanis Club & Fannin County High School GAMA, June 2002), p. 467, Family 419, Eliza A. Patterson married July 27, 1858 in Fannin County, Georgia to William Oliver Crumly (Crumbly). 1860 Census GA,, Fannin Co. Transcribed by Helen W. Casada, Family # 414. This book has Bailey's father as George Patterson. George had several brothers...Enoch, William, Joseph, John and Jeremy. John married Jane (Jinny) Chapman about 1828 in Hall Co. Gainsville is county seat. So I think this means that Bailey's uncle was John Patterson. Hope this helps.
