How about Carters or Parhams? Tim Henry My husband's family were the Ratcliff/Radliff/Ratliff/Rackliff/etc. His grandmother, Mary J Ratcliff and two of her bothers went to AL from GA and she married the Canant there. The Ratcliffs had come from Randolph Co, NC to Buncombe Co, NC and then down to Gilmer Co, GA. Mary Jelillie Ratcliff was born in 06 Sep 1865 in Gilmer Co. Her daddy was James Thomas (Thomas) Ratcliff, Sr born 16 Jan 1812 in Buncombe Co, NC and he married Mary E Whiteside, born 27 Dec 1822, in Buncombe Co. I have worked on the Ratcliffs for many years and some of the kins of our Ratcliff went down to SC and then came over to Gilmer Co, GA. So NC and SC families went to Gilmer Co.
