Hi. I am trying to find Ruth Mashburn Hamrick. I've been told that she was a long-time resident of Gilmer County and that she worked in the Gilmer County Library in 'recent' years. (I think she might have been librarian for a Methodist Church in Elijay circa 1968.) My search for her stems from my being told that she has information on the Poole-Patterson family of Gilmer County/and nearby counties. It's implied that she has/found crucial information regarding my Patterson brick wall, so I am most anxious to locate her. Any suggestions about how to contact Mrs. Hamrick and/or her family will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Jennie Patterson
Pat Tucker, do you have any GADDIS' in your files of Marriages for Gilmer Co., Ga.? Thanks PeggySue O'Shields GADDIS PEGGYSOGADDIS@bham.rr.com

2004 GA Jay/Bramlett/Wallis/Wallace and Allied Family Reunion The Hopewell Methodist Church Fellowship Hall in Murrayville, Hall Co., GA has been reserved for the 2004 GA Jay/Bramlett/Wallis/Wallace and allied Family Reunion. This event will take place April 23 & 24, 2004. Please click on the following link for the latest Reunion information and the published Agenda. http://www.entechdesign.com/GaReunionNotice.htm Shortly after migrating from Warren Co. TN to Hall Co. GA in 1822, David Jay Sr. settled on Hall Co. Land Lot #61 just south of current Murrayville, GA. On June 16, 1837 the Rev. Jay donated 3 acres of his 240+ acre tract to the Methodist Episcopal Church "in consideration of his love for the Church and his desire for its prosperity". This land lot was subsequently sold many times......to son William Jay, neighbor Nathan Bramlette, etc.......always including the 3 acre "Hopewell Meeting House" exclusion until the Church formally acquired the land by recorded deed in 1895. Today the church and congregation are still vibrant.......with a new Fellowship Hall no less. Additionally, an immaculate small graveyard exists next door with a multitude of Jay and allied family graves. If you are researching, related to or allied to the following family lines.....Jay, Bramlette, Wallis, Wallace, Mattox, Hurley, Harris, Gamblin, Rutherford, Charles, Mincey, Waters, Castleberry, Martin, Daniel, Banks, Leach, Hise, Lusk, etc. .then this is the event for you. Individuals requiring lodging can stay in Gainesville, GA, which is a 15 minute drive from the church. Additionally, Gainesville has an excellent regional genealogy research library that has late evening hours......for the obsessed researcher. For more information on the reunion, you may contact Vince King at entech.design@verizon.net.
Does anybody know if there is a Bramlett family cemetary in Gilmer County?
Hi Pat where are you getting the marriage dates and things? Is there a book i can buy or something for Gilmer County, Georgia? Thanks Rebecca WIlbanks Day
The Cartecay River joins with the Ellijay River in downtown Ellijay. Probably just an early (or incorrect) spelling. Together they form the Coosawatee. -----Original Message----- From: Rod or Leslie [mailto:aeriehollow@ellijay.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 17, 2004 7:42 PM To: GAGILMER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [GAGILMER] Cotacoa River I am trying to determine which river in Gilmer County would have been called this name Cotacoa, in 1837??? There is a map dated 1827 on page 5 in the book Whites among the Cherokee that shows the principal stream Valleys in Cherokee Georgia. No referance to Cotacoa on it.
