    3. I have census information and descendants on the other siblings of Preshus Carter Felmet. The only one I cannot find descendants on is Martha "Patsy" Carter Southerland. I have lots of Felmet info, and should anyone need it, will be happy to share. There has been some debate among researchers of Nathaniel Felmet as to whether Preshus and Mannerva were the same person. I think the dual census in Gilmer and Floyd Counties has put that to rest. There is also a question of an Edith Wood. George W. Felmet, born in Gilmer County, a son of Nathaniel's and Preshus Felmet, has a death certificate in Fannin County, Texas, which lists Edith Wood as the mother. I think the son of George's who gave the information just didn't know the facts, or gave as best he knew. Hoever, other researchers are insisting that ther was another wife. The 1850 Gloyd/Gilmer Census for Preshus/Mannerva, and the 1860 census for Mannerva should lay this to rest. If in your looking around, you were to find a date of death, place of burial for Preshus, I would be eternally grateful. Our family legend is that she died while Nathaniel was away during the Civil War. Thanking you for all you have done. 3. My theory: Nathaniel Green or "Green" is a farmer in the Gilmer County census, and farm labor in the Floyd County census. I think he worked his farm and also hired out. The census taker might have cought him in one spot, probably Gilmer, and took information. In the other spot, the census taker might have said "who lives in that house" and wrote down the information. I 've thought for a while now that, when some of my ancestors seemed to have avoided the census taker at all costs, old Nathaniel got recorded twice! lol. 3. Dora, If you find such info please forward. If you are descended from Nathaniel Green Felmet and Preshus Cartecr. You know mine is Warren Clayton Felmet and Mary Ann Teague. Got Great grandma Blackwell's death cert and they are mentioned. Do you know where I might obtain a census on Nathaniel Green Felmet as son of Theodorus and Warren Clayton Felmet as son of Nathaniel? With that proof and Theodorus being a Maryland Continental, I can join Sons of the Revolution. BTW, Warren Clayton Felmet was ordained in the Cross Grove Baptis Church(now First Baptist Church) of Tellico Junction(now Englewood), TN. Have copy of their history on him and another gg grandfather William Glenn Blackwell. Seems William Glenn and his brother Reuben joined the 4th Tenn Cavalry in 1863 in KY according to a web site. That was a Union outfit. What is unusual is that they were from Spartanburg, SC. That might explain why Great grandpa Blackwell was a Republican in Texas in the early 1900s. 3. I am so excited to share with you that Dorinda Whitley has created a master listing for the Deeds of Gilmer County -- ABCDEF books. You can just imagine the amount of work and eyestrain that went into this labor for all of you who research in Gilmer County http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/gilmer/deeds.html http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/ga/gilmer/photos/landlots.jpg Land Lot map was also created by Dorinda This is a great asset...and now let's do our part by typing up any deeds you are able to obtain (or maybe you have some already in your files). I know that transcribing these deeds can be a daunting task...but actually the same sort of words are used in most all of them. The important thing of course is the individual differences.... who bought it, where they lived, who sold it, where the land was located land district, land lot, witnesses. Some will mention some bordering land owners... Looking at the deeds page, you can see that so many of them were shared by Suzanne Forte. I feel certain that some of you do have a deed or two in your file, and if you need help in getting this transcribing done, just write to me. The more everyone shares, the more we will be helped to get past a brick wall. Deeds (by who signs the deed) can also be a clue for some of those married daughters we're always looking for. It's been my experience that if the land came through the wife, then her signature was required on the deed itself. Most of all let's say a BIG THANK you to Dorinda! Virginia
