    1. Greer famly - Alexander W. and Rebecca
    2. Virginia Crilley
    3. Alexander W. Greer is shown on the 1840 Gilmer, GA census. We're curious because we ran across a female who was listed as a Matron for a Georgia unit in the Cherokee War. It seems there may have been three women serving as Matrons One of them was a Rebecca Greer who served in Lindsay's GA Mtd Mil in the Cherokee War - the other two also served in this unit. (We think this was probably around 1836-1839) The other two women: Mary Smith and Polly Wright. And we're not sure where they were from or who their husband was. The idea of a Matron for this militia is something I would like to learn about. There is an A. W. Greer who served in Derrick's Co. of Lindsay's GA Mtd Mil in the Cherokee War - this is probably Alexander W. Greer. Does anyone have any info on Rebecca or A.W. Greer serving in the Cherokee War? We have a couple of rosters for Lindsay's Militia on-line http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/military/indian/bond.txt http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/ga/military/indian/dorsey.txt

    3. The census of Fannin Co., GA 1870 page 58; Morganton, Jones family is 122, Crumbly family is 123. Family custom is that the children mentioned on this page are children of Eliza and W.O. The last three kids born after this census belong to Robert Jones. W.O, Left Eliza about 1873. She never saw him again. The first child mentioned here is named Bailey Isaiah. She probably named him after her father. Then Thomas my grandfather, then Aunt Mart. Must be a different Robert Jones as this one is married to an Elizabeth. There are two Jones families on this page. BTW the Facets of Fannin has info incorrect on this family. 3. 1860 Census GA,, Fannin Co. Transcribed by Helen W. Casada, Family # 414. This book has Bailey's father as George Patterson. George had several brothers...Enoch, William, Joseph, John and Jeremy. John married Jane (Jinny) Chapman about 1828 in Hall Co. Gainsville is county seat. So I think this means that Bailey's uncle was John Patterson. Hope this helps.
