Teri- If I can believe my family tree software, your Samuel Tate Jones is my grand-uncle, the brother of my grandfather, Alfred Hines Jones. Alfred Hines left Boone county sometime after the 1910 census for Washington State where all his offspring eventually settled. I have found at least four individuals on the web with published Jones ancestry, all basically the same but one in particular that I am using as the basis for all my data. This database expands both the Jones and Tate lines and was obviously well researched but just how accurate it all is will be determined by others but not in my lifetime I am sure. I would be happy to share what I have with you. I have one very precious photo of Samuel Tate Jones, taken in Boone County in the latter stages of his life that you probably would enjoy having. It was found in an old suitcase of family photos after my father died. What exactly is your connection to Samuel ? Please contact me off list to begin a discussion of just what you would like to have and how I might easily provide it. Below is an e-mail I received from the Gilmer County Library that might interest you. Good Luck Linda, I am at the Gilmer County Library in Ellijay, GA ... your question posted on the Sequoyah Library System's website was forwarded to me by the staff at the headquarters when they were not able to find an obituary for William Kinsey. Unfortunately, we don't have any obits or local newspapers that date back to 1884. Where did you find the articles you mentioned in your email ?? Our book "Heritage of Gilmer County" has hundreds of family articles in it that were submitted by the public in 1996 when it was published. One article is for a William W. Kimzey family. He was a teacher in the county and one of his children was a William B. who it says " died September 1884 from a richoceting bullet fired during a shootout by two other men, at Doublehead Gap not far from his home in Gilmer County".. No mention of a wife for him and his birth year is given as 1855 - he was one of 10 children of William W. and Elizabeth Smith Kimzey. I wonder if this could be the person you are looking for, although there is a variation of the spelling of the name. ?? The shooting as cause of death and the 1884 date would match your information. I can put copy of this in the snail mail to you if you'd like.. Glenda Garland Gilmer County Library Glenda @ Gilmer

Turner B: 19 Sept. 1881, possibly in Ellijay, Gilmer Co., Ga. The part that is interesting, he called himself Bob Woody. We never knew his family, were told his mother was a Turner, and he was born out of wed lock. Have been searching high and low for his parents. He married Delia Stone, whom we have been able to trace her family. We know they were married around 1900-1903, because the first of eleven children was born in Marietta Ga., 1903. My cousin has done Turner DNA, and no match. Have a picture of grandfather, and was told by a person who lives in area, he looks just like the Woody's. Know this doesn't find your William Kinsey, however, would be interested to know more about this killing, might explain why my grandfather, was given his mothers name,Turner, then later in life called himself, Woody. Just found out his possible birth place as Ellijay, first census we find him on is in Nimblewell, Lumpkin Co., he is 18, and living as a boarder with a Mary Berry, widow age 62. Also a Elijah Dempsey age 25, boarder, and Martin Wehunt age 12, boarder. Berry's and Wehunts were related thru marriages, my great grandmother was Lucyana Elizabeth Wehunt, on the Stone side. These folks knew everybody in general area, we don't. So any info anybody can add could help us both. Would like to know any Turners or Woodys, living in that general area during 1880-1900's.

Ally, I am researching my GGGG Grandfather, Isham/Isom Blaylock/Blalock, born 1775 - 1794; died before 1838 in (Haywood) NC. (Isham was the father of my Elizabeth Blaylock, who married Allen Henson September 18, 1821 in (Haywood) NC. They moved to (Union) GA by 1850, where they are enumerated on the Federal Census. Allen is found in (Fannin) GA by 1860, but apparently, Elizabeth is dead by then, as she is not listed with her family in that census.) Isham's other known children were Polly, who married Timothy Queen, and Isham, Jr. who married Mary A. Brookshear. I think he may have married twice, but don't have a record of that. Virginia: I live in Gilmer and am somewhat familiar with its Churches. I do not know of a Yellow Creek Baptist Church. Neither do I know of a Yellow Creek being in Gilmer. Please do not take this to be the final answer to your inquiry, but I pass this along to alert you to the possibility that something is awry with your data. I will mention to you that there is a Lick Log Community. This is likely what was intended in your reference to the Lie Log Community. Rod/Leslie, Don't know how much you know but Green Felmet is my GGG grandfather. Three Felmetsons of Green married three daughters of Moses Teague from there. I found Moses Teague on Jury lists in the 1850s on rootsweb. Moses' wife is buried in Leonard Cemetery as is two of his daughters and two sons in law....along with many of Isaac Teague's kids. Gilmer County may not know but there is an area of Fannin/Hunt Counties in Texas(NE of Dallas 75 miles) known as Little Georgia! Gilmer Co, Ga is mentioned on the headstone of Andrew Jackson Teague and his wife Samantha in Hogeye(now Celeste) Cemetery. I do not reckon the books are still in print. If they are then please let me know how I might obtain them. I have a copy of an 1850 Census ostensibly in Floyd County with Green Felmet as well. Green Felmet married Preshus Carter(dau of Henry and Martha Parham). Her sister Sarah married a Thompson. Their daughter Nancy married James Teague, brother of Isaac and Moses. I gather Moses Teague was a Baptist preacher. Wonder if the minutes of the Mt Zion Baptist Church mentions him. Anyone know if the Mt Zion BC is still in operation and who might be the historical contct there? Does anyone have any information on how to purchase this book? If someone has a copy, does it mention the surname Bevel? Thanks, Scott
Green Felmet is mention in the Ward book as having been a former resident dying in Texas May 8, 1904. He is listed as a veteran of the Indian wars and the Civil War. He shows up on the 1850 Gilmer census records: 32 | 171 171 | Green Felmet | 32 M | Farmer NC 33 | 171 171 | Preshues Felmet | 25 F | NC 34 | 171 171 | Martha Felmet | 11 F | NC 35 | 171 171 | Doras H Felmet | 9 M | NC 36 | 171 171 | John Felmet | 6 M | GA 37 | 171 171 | Sarah Felmet | 2 F | GA Teague is an old Gilmer name with many descendants still living here. If you have someone specific I'll see what I can find. A pioneer by the name of A.K. Blackwell came in 1834 and was a layer and shop owner for a time before he moved to Murray County... it states he never married. There is also a mention of a J. W. Blackwell who was a teacher but nothing more is said about him. Then Stanley talks about a man named Fount(ain) Branch Carter. And then Farish Carter of Carter's Quarters... which was an Indian town on the Coosawatee River. A Jim Carter who married and Indian woman named Sarah Jane Parker. Author states he doesn't know if all these Carters are related. I find nothing on the Comptons, or Parhams in any of the books. Leslie
Thank you for taking the time for this. I am interested in any information on the Bearden and/or Long families. Thanks again for any information that you might be able to provide. Jeanette
I am very interested in obtaining this book. How do I go about it? Any information appreciated. Jeanette
