In my own research, I have found so many people I research married in Carroll County, GA - and they lived no where near it! Does anyone know the reason? Where can we find the cost of marriage licenses (I know that isn't the term; however, it eludes me) for the different counties? Perhaps Carroll County was much lower than the rest? Maybe because Carroll County is across the State Line from Alabama. Travel costs would have been relatively high to travel to a relatively remote location. My ancestors went there because they had a won a land lottery there.
