I will make a couple of comments to the below, and before everyone jumps to the table tops to scream and shout just ask yourselves these questions. What happened to this project? What changed in this project? 1) The Guidelines 2) Signers of this petition that have come into this project within the last year with I believe the exception of two, and have been the vocal parties on the list continuously. What was life like before the guidelines? I started as a cc in 1998, and had very little negative contact with any of the cc's because it was not necessary, they did their pages, put data online and life went on. So what changed and when? Before this past year there may have been a few lumps and hurdles, but I did not remember people being ugly towards each other. For the most part everyone worked well together. It was a pleasure to work in this project. I will be the first to admit the past couple of months my responses on the mailing list have been short and for the most part just trying to get people to give people a rest that did not want to be exposed to all of this, but I will say in my own defense that the continuous complaining has grown quite tiresome, all I ever really wanted to do was to get data online and participate in a nice project. That was what happened until this past year, so if all of us old timers didn't change, what and who did? If you review the mailing list, you will find that the same people asked the same questions over and over and over, made the same complaints over and over, HOWEVER, they had already filed a grievance with the AB. As they had filed without going through their RCs and the council, to assist in their complaints, they did not follow protocol, but after they filed continued to act like they were awaiting responses from myself and Tim, responses which could not be given once they filed with the AB. What has also not been told here is that at least one person dropped from the first petition, and the first petition that they brought was withdrawn by them after a vote was called for on Board-L. They were able to bring it again under new rules that allowed it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Saffold" <msaffold@bellsouth.net> To: <GAGEN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, March 25, 2003 3:18 PM Subject: Re: [GAGEN] Petition, etc Eloquently said, MK. While the charges and counter-charges may be relevant to some, the real question behind the upcoming vote is this: Given the past months of conflict and turmoil, does the current state coordinator have the ability to heal the rifts and lead this project into a more productive future?
