    3. I may be one of the people that Tim has accused of "picking sites apart" today in one of his posts. I became curious about what was going on with GAGenWeb back in February when issues continued to come up that came up 6 - 8 months ago. So, instead of relying on one side or the other of the posts that were being made, I decided to check things out for myself. I started that by going through our TOC. A page we all take for granted. Maybe you shouldn't, go take a close look at it and then click on each county. I can't remember the exact count of our counties but think it is around 160. The second time I looked at the county pages after becoming "curiouser and curioser" I chose two points of our guidelines that are requirements for each county page. Two points which would not take a CC 10 minutes to change and upload on a site....including connection time. They were 1) a link to that county archives table of con- tents and 2) a last updated "date". Out of the total counties in Georgia, 58 of those were in violation of our guidelines on one or two of those two requirements and sometimes both of those. Don't wait on someone else to send you a list of what is wrong on which counties, go look for yourself. I doubt anyone will send you a list anyway as it might be construed in the wrong way. I did not do the checks that I did in order to cause any problems for anyone but to see if the SC and RC's were following through with what I believe is required of them by the guidelines. The guidelines state that the sites would be checked for compliance last July. I contend they never have been as a whole. I posted an email to this list two months ago asking about the committee required by USGENWEB policy to check county sites for compliance. I received NO answer to my question. I have thus assumed there is no committee other than the SC & RC's in Georgia for this purpose. I will never know, this side of the grave, who voted or how. On the other side I won't care. If instead you believe these are the complaints of individuals, whose situation was handled as best one could do under the circumstances - then also vote your conscience. Of course you don't have to vote if you don't want to. For this to 'pass', 75% of you must participate and 2/3 of that 75% must approve or 50% of the Georgia CCs in order to effect a removal. Of late there has been an attempt by several of these petitioners to harass members of GAGenWeb regarding your sites. They review your pages and nitpick them. They should refer this to the RC for said region or send a kind note to the CC, instead of the condescending notes I've seen. If you get a note from one of these folks and you feel you are being harassed, please feel free to write your RC or myself with your complaints or tell them just how much you appreciate their harassment. The last I checked - GAGenWeb and assorted sites have over 60,000 links. There is no way anyone can keep all their links current all the time. Servers go down, pages disappear, hosts pass away. If you are aware of ANY files that have been swiped from your county pages without your permission and copied to the Archives, please send that information to me and/or your RC and it will be promptly dealt with. Perhaps if these folks would spend time on their own pages - their visitors would be greatly rewarded, for currently some of these are only a collection of links, which is out of the scope envisioned for the Project. After this vote is held - and the results announced - if I'm still your choice, we'll start a review of the Guidelines. Until then everything except departures and new CCs are on hold. FWIW, we currently have only 5 counties available for adoption: Evans, Jefferson, Pulaski, Webster and Worth.
