    3. Carol, How do we get this information to all the CCs of GA and to the other states? The ALL list has been gagged, and even when it was open how many CCs were subscribed to it? It appears the vast majority of the CCs throughout the USGenWeb Project do care about the national level and only care about the county(s) they are handling. There has been talk for a long time about having two newsletters, one for the researchers and another for the members. But has anything been done about getting the newsletters going. And even after the newsletters are a reality, how do we get all the members to subscribe to it. Most of them will continue to bury their heads in the sand. Do we do it for other CCs in the state? IF so, you could possibly have a point. BUT - if we do it for other genealogists, most of whom are not involved as GAGenWeb or USGenWeb volunteers - then why in the sam hill do we want to air our dirty laundry in their faces? They do not even know what the Board list is, or care - and smearing all of this in front of them is certainly not presenting the state or the national project in a positive light. And to have this done by a RC in GA - that has me totally amazed - to think that one of our "leaders" could stoop to something this gross blows me away. 3. Excellent question, Connie - unfortunately I do not have an answer. All of the CCs in GA are on this list, aren't they? Why not discuss it here? So far as the CCs in other states - there does need to be a newsletter, IMHO. And there is the USGenWeb-Discuss list. That new -ALL list was talking about a newsletter at one point - what ever happened to that? One thing I do know - the county and SP pages are NOT the place to air USGenWeb politics. Most of them will continue to bury their heads in the sand. I believe it's called freedom of choice. Most of the folks who joined USGenWeb joined it for one reason only - to share materials with others. The draw was that all one had to do was maintain a site which had minimum requirements. They were then left to their own devices as to how to design and present the material they either had or that was/has/will be donated to them for inclusion on the site. Most didn't bargain for all the fighting and infighting over how best to present data on DEAD people. The dead certainly don't care nor do most living people. That many members choose not to vote, speak up or otherwise be involved, even though they are aware of what may be going on in other circles, goes to show that they just want to do their websites and not be bothered by turmoil. And for those who don't know - how many do you think would really care once they did know? Very few is my guess for people generally prefer calm over turmoil. In about 10 days there's going to a an election for SC in one state - as of last night there are no candidates. I'm a CC in that state - and the state list there was extremely quiet. But then most CCs there like that. We all just do our sites, once in a while talk to each other off list and go on about our business. The same is true in other states as well. Tim

I'm a new CC in Georgia, but I CC in 5 other states and have never seen anything like this. For a new CC, it's a little disturbing. Certainly there are issues, but some of the comments on this thread have been rather argumentative instead of helping/friendly--which is the heart of the project... isn't it. Aren't we ALL in the same boat as CCs? Don't we all have to abide by the same rules and have the same goal? In fact, there were one or two messages where emotions clearly got involved and maybe should have been done off-list. I am one of those who'd rather not be involved in the turmoil. One might accuse me of the "ignorance is bliss" syndrome, but if it doesn't affect how my website is managed/what's required to be on it or that my website continues to be part of a project that is free of charge to it's users, then I'm not sure I really need to see it. If someone is offended by another CC/RC/SCs behavior, there is a chain of escalation. AFTER that's been exhausted then it MIGHT be appropriate to appeal to the masses depending upon the behavior. If it's something you feel would jeopardize the future of the project--by all means. Otherwise, this on-list fighting does an awful lot to alienate the people who just want to do a good job within the confines that they're given. Hoping I didn't further offend anyone, Heather (White Co.)
