Gloria, Which counties do this information pertain to? I host the Calhoun site. Thanks Christine (Soffe) Martin christinesoffemartin@hotmail.com http://www.soffemartin.com http://www.rootsweb.com/~gacalhou -----Original Message----- From: John Holback [mailto:john2936@comcast.net] Sent: Saturday, February 22, 2003 4:31 PM To: GAGEN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [GAGEN] County Photos/ Abstracted Records All, John and I are going through our file cabinets and boxes which we have stored from a move to another city, county a few years ago and are trying to get everything given away or thrown away that we do not need any longer. When we were hosting 14 GA Counties and I was hosting 2 VA Counties for the USGenWeb Project I had posted cemetery records on some of the pages and also some marriages, wills and other types of material. Then some contributors had sent information also during the years which we had all those counties to baby-sit till parents could be found and they could be adopted out. When they changed hands I left the old pages online so anyone could copy whatever material that they wanted to copy but sometimes the new CC did not want the old material or somehow it was lost along the way. So now we are offering to give the CCs who now have those counties the materials to place on their pages. We also have the entire WPA Cemetery Surveys (a work project to put folks who were out of work to work during the years 1936 to about 1944) on microfiche. Any one who wants the material to do lookups or to post the material on their sites can let us know and we will figure a way to get the material to you. We should find out first if those records/fiche are copyrighted and if they are if we can use them. They were from the US Gov Project so guess the Gov would have the copyrights. At one time I tried to do lookups for folks but just don't have the time to look up data pertaining to counties that we don't host. At any rate as we come across the material we will contact the CC and ask if they want the material. We also have an extra microfiche reader if anyone is interested. Paper work piles up as most of you know and genealogist and family historians can be pack rats if we allow it. <smile> Gloria ==== GAGEN Mailing List ==== Confused about Copyrights???
